Road Safety

Today morning, I saw a badly smashed blue Santro near Dommasandra, readying to be towed. The car looked very familiar.
Then I got an email from a neighbour saying one of our neighbours was involved in an accident last night. A tempo truck was trying to overtake a much bigger truck, even when there were 3 oncoming cars. He could not complete his manouvre in time and my neighbour, who was the first among the 3, tried swerving to the left. But the truck hit his car on its right, then went on to hit the other 2 cars as well.
Luckily, my neighbour escaped with bruises to his face, right hand and right leg. The car seems to have broken the right side axle.
The other two cars were luckier. They could be driven away.
Crash site on the NOIDA-Greater NOIDA Expressway this afternoon.
Injured gent being bundled into a passing taxi by other drivers on the road.
Santro went into the back of a tractor trolley which decided to cut across from the left of the road to the right without any indication. They keep doing that on this stretch, and it is by God's grace that more such crashes don't occur here every day.
Before anyone asks: No, I don't have any pics of the right side of the car, but I did notice a collapsed suspension. The car bore the brunt of the impact on its right front corner.
Incidentally, that WagonR cab had overtaken me some 5 km previously, running at ~120 km/h, and narrowly avoided becoming a wreck upon a wreck himself. Notice his skid mark.
Saw this beemer today morning. Think it happened yesterday night. Rear was completely damaged, rear right window was broken, driver door was crushed. Guess some vehicle read ended and the beemer lost control and smashed the median. Anyways, was sad to see the car in such a state.
While browsing through some old photographs, came across this one, taken during an early morning drive on Vidyasagar Bridge in Nov 2009. I was on the spot within few minutes of the accident! Four teenagers on their way back from Birthday celebration crashed! Sadly none of survived!

sad indeed.
Yesterday, I was on my way back home from Tiruvalla and near Edapally junction, I was following a unloaded Tata truck. It was raining heavily and I was explaining how ABS, ESP will help in these slippery situation to my sister. Hardly 5 minutes later, a bus on the left lane stopped, the car following it could't stop on time and decided to swerve to the right lane. This prompted the lorry in front of me to brake, and by doing so he managed to lock up the rear wheel, and his rear stepped out. He manage to stop, but the vehicle was at 45 degree with half of it in left lane.
My heart skipped a beat, what if I had occupied that left lane. Luckily there was no one in the adjacent lane to the lorry.

That looks like a lot of blood below the civic, probably some animal,if there were no casualities.

Sorry, I rephrased it.Not an animal. The person on the front passenger seat wasn't wearing his seat belt. The others walked away with some scratches and bruises.

What a stark difference in casualties (jaspal bhatti versus none) in the two accidents. The damage between cars and life is opposite in both cases.
I showed both to my father who believes seat belts in rear seats is of no use. I believe he finally got my logic

It is a bit too red for blood. It is brake fluid!
