Road Safety
(
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/road-safety/)
This is an accident I saw last week during my travel to Chennai in the GQ. This was like 10KMs from hosur towards Krishnagiri.
Look at the Rear wheel, the whole assembly is broken and "standing" on the road. (Towards the right most in the 1st pic)

@normally_crazy:
I hope that there were survivors in the Omni crash.
2)
@mjothi:
This one is a bad crash, the rear axle is out of the chassis and the front axle and wheels are facing different directions ! IMO, the driver went into divider thinking that the cut in divider is there but it wasn't and so this happened.
This happened in front of Omaxe Plaza, on Sohna Road

Yeah, those rear tyres sure are pretty bald, whereas the front aint too bad.
Heres a very interesting post regarding this : http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/modify...tml#post766056 (see the video in the link)
Also, i wonder if the alto driver was rubbernecking - or he just got scared / tried to avoid the esteem that was somersaulting onto his side of the road!

In Xehaust's post that i have linked to above, there is another
link. If you follow that link and then scroll down to the bottom of the page there will be a box saying "Install two new tires on the rear axle" with a link to the
short video.
Heres the direct link (scroll down):

This new Indica crashed on The Express highway while going to Pune. All three people died. It jumped the divider and went head-on under a one of those trucks carrying a container.
The indica crash is a nasty one. Must be doing very high speed.
Holy Moly it just crumpled and may the souls RIP. Hitting high speeds on the expressways with stock wheels and tyres will definitely result in casualties.
Should show this to all the Hotel pick up vehicles like Indica, Indigo, Marina, etc. They just floor the pedal and dont even care how the condition of the wheels and tyres are.
I have personally been scared while in one of these which i opted for from Mumbai airport to pune. Had no faster choice that day but decided not to use them again.
Bad scene for Indicas on the Expressway; I have seen a tyre burst of a Indica on the Mumbai - Pune Expressway 4 years ago and there too all 3 occupants passed away.
The cement roads do cause a lot of Tyre Burst is what i guess, Here too the front tubes seem to have bursted.
May be the experts on TBHP can comment on the same.
Many people do not inflate tires to proper pressure and then rip on expressways. Moreover indica taxi's are base models fitted with 120-130kmph rated tires, so at 110kmph the tires are at the limit of their performance.
Add underinflation to that, you have a good chance of a high speed tire burst.
Also concrete has less grip in rainy weather, so the same turn which was earlier possible at 120, is not a 80kmph turn, people don't realize that and overshoot and crash.
Add to that the absense of anti dive collision bar in most older trucks, even slow speed crashes are fatal with the cars going under the truck.
how do the indicas jump. i thought they were heavy cars. plus im guessing there must be no median in the center right ?
Some photos taken on NH17.
