re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Some of these recent pictures remind me that the building of good roads without educating and controlling drivers is really some sort of very sick joke.

Scary pics! In the above pix, Manza and Corolla look a lot alike. Do they come from same design house?

Saw a spectacular blast yesterday in the traffic jam near BEL circle around 8:30 pm, Later on when the traffic moved, I saw that it was actually an Omni on fire, Didnt want to stop to take pictures, as I could see the fire trucks trying to get near the burning car.

This more than the title depicts the driving sense of the literate malayali. Utter chaos prevailing even when the traffic density is less at that hour.
See the pedestrian, the dog the motorcyclist et all. Real pity.

Added to this switching off early and switching on late of traffic lights adds to the misery and woes. Whosoever has invented this timing needs counseling. What is wrong if traffic lights function always with minor frequency corrections?

The bus crash video is very shocking. What the heck does the bus driver think he is doing? This is not negligent driving. It's cold-blooded murder. Wonder what happened to the guy whom the bus hit. Such drivers should get street justice --lynch them to death.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

@Scorcher. That video at first seemed a normal idiotic crash to me. But only when I saw it the second time, I saw the horror of it all. Unbelievable and something that sent goosebumps across my body. I dont even want to imagine what happened to those pedestrians

On a separate note, one of employees was involved in an accident yesterday, with mother nature. He was riding his bike somewhere after the madiwala crossing, when a branch of a tree fell on his head. He injured his arm and luckily he was wearing a helmet, which saved him. But it still resulted in him fracturing his nose. He had to undergo surgery today and it was a painful sight to see him at mainpal. With all the rain and wind in bangalore, one really has to be careful about the trees.

To Scorchers Post

Ok, I just searched up on google. Apparently, the pedestrian was killed in the accident. A senior citizen aged around 66.

This is what happens if we let MORONS drive.
There's something really wrong with our 100% literacy thing.

I have seen these private bus drivers - they race to the next bus stop to pick up passengers before the bus ahead of them can. Many times they are neck and neck above 40kmph on a single laned undivided highway, like teens on their first RX100!!

This guy was clearly trying to do a sneak maneuver, in from the left to gain the left-most spot in anticipation of an approaching bus stop, when the idiot lost control of his vehicle totally!! Possibly, too much testosterone and a racing pulse due to a sense of competition probably resulted in that fatal error of judgment. My guess is he had raced forward from the last stop he made to catch up with the other three buses.

The victim ran for his life in the last few seconds if you noticed. But the bus was unfortunately not headed almost parallel to the left of the bus ahead, but at a sharp angle and there was nowhere left for the pedestrian to go, in the split second and 3 or 4 final short leaps he took to save his life. The impact literally flung him at a higher velocity than his running speed.

RIP poor man.

Makes me shudder to think that a similar instance could possibly happen to any one of us tomorrow, or our kids and family.

Just yesterday a speeding car taking a sharp left into the bye-lane, at a fork from Ramamurthy nagar overhead signal exiting ORR, had to swerve a wider angle to avoid 3 or 4 year old child from a roadside labor camp who was skipping along in all her innocence at the turn. I was walking on the extreme left and in the blink of an eye the bumper of his car cut an arc through the air, a hairs breath away and just in front of my knees. I was lucky not to land in hospital. I caught the drivers eye as he passed me, even as I was yet to realize what was happening (the time to react was that low) - he was palpitating at his lucky escape but the very next second sped away at the same speed - I think for another round of testosterone filled driving experience!!

True. What harm in switching on of traffic lights? These guys are waiting for the accident to happen and then traffic lights are switched on at that particular junction. Saw a classic example today morning at 3AM. The traffic signal at Palarivattom was working at 3AM (thanks to the recent accident that claimed 6 lives) but the signal at Vytilla wasnt working. Vehicles were speeding through this junction. Waiting for another mishap? GOD.!

Sadly, the pedestrian lost his life. He was a senior citizen.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

It would be interesting to know where the driver of the killer bus is now. He would have walked out and would be on the prowl at Kochi roads for more exploits.
The brake and suspension of the bus was ascertained to be in fine nick and rash and negligent driving is the cause.

All of Kochi's errant private bus drivers and the Kilis (nee cleaners who hang out of the doors with a whistle in his mouth) has to be made answerable.

Would the authorities concerned wake up from slumber?
