This thread, and the newspaper reports, makes me wary of family weddings, pilgrimages, etc. They seem to be very dangerous things to do.
Sighted these two in Kolkata last week- a TVS three wheeler and a Tata Indica that were damaged in separate accidents:

My wife just called and informed me that she saw a horrible accident on Bannerghatta road, near to ICICI bank at Hulimavu. Seems like a bike rider was mowed down by a truck. She told me that it was a gory sight with blood and flesh strewn across the road. Bad start to a Monday morning. Seems like two wheelers are becoming more and more unsafe on Bangalore roads.

I saw this accident!! God it was horrible. Parts of his head were here and there on the road. It was a splendor bike which came under a sand carrier. This happened exactly in front of "Bennison Super market". May he rest in piece:(

No offence, I hope you meant 'Rest in Peace'.
It was horrible indeed. May his soul R.I.P
This thread is a recommended read for all, though its not something termed as casual or a feel-good read.
It helps creating awareness. Every time when i read this thread, I'm learning from others mistakes. In fact, it helped me become a very sedate driver on highways.

Yes, Scorp and Innova drivers are worst bullies. Always in a hurry. Glued to your bumper and honking incessantly like their backsides are on fire. Very pesky rogues! But these bullies are the ones who crash most and die most on our highways. The humble 800s and Altos are relatively less likely to crash. As they say, the meek will indeed inherit the earth.:)
I'm very sorry for the mistake. May he rest in Peace.
The Dzire that fell off the second floor.

Don't worry mayank! :)
This was featured in the
What Car? magazine.
The Dzire was loaded onto a lift in a Maruti service station, and fell 2 floors below when the lift malfunctioned. No one was inside it.
The SS asked the owner to claim insurance, but with the help of What Car? and MSIL, the dealer had to get him a new Dzire. The owner paid a lil extra, so he now has an LDi instead of his old LXi.
saw this in front of Total Mall Madiwala yesterday. wonder what happened - divider or head-on.

What????:Shockked: Did the mech manage to come out alive???
And hows your new Dzire (LDi I presume) doing?
Did the workshop bear your insurance and road tax?
Staff at the workshop said he was paralyzed and since he was a contractor (and not a direct employee) , I am not sure if the workshop would be really under obligation to take care of him. Other staff at the workshop said, the guy was careless and drove into the lift shaft when the lift had actually gone to a higher floor, he drove into a 2 floors deep pit. Surprisingly the lifts didn't have any safety doors to keep the lift shaft closed when the lift wasn't there.
Had problems with Ldi too, coolant leaked from a pipe and engine seized - MUL insists its accidental damage. That's another long story.
They tried to avoid the taxes and said price has gone up & they will bear the ex showroom price that I had paid for Lxi, but they came around and paid the full on road price for Lxi and as you rightly said, I paid the difference and took an Ldi.
ff1609,that is a bad one !! Can you please tell us as to which workshop this was?
