i pity the future generations who watch and learn from us!

PS: there are always exceptions to the above, but maybe just a handful.

Yes, there are exceptions.
Take my example.
Since I was in grade 3, when my dad got his 1st car, I never let him even turn the engine on, until both he and my mom have fastened their belts.
And I used to get real mad at them, whenever they would sometimes cross the road at the middle (not at zebra crossings). Because of this, they always cross at zebra crossings, fasten their belts, and follow lanes, even when not in my presence. I have also convinced them sucessfully to replace our M800 with a larger, safer car with Airbags and ABS.

AFAIK, Amby is a monocoque, not body on chassis. Which is why it it so spacious inside for a car of that era.

To the best of my knowledge, the first monocoque car in India was Maruti 800, not Amby.
Internationally, Citroen pioneered this type of construction, and Maruti 800 brought monocoque construction to India.

that is true. the Amby does not have a monocoque body, at least not Mark I - IV. not so sure about the Izuzu engine onwards :D

Hate to tell you this, but you're wrong. The Amby really is a monocoque or unibody car. The unibody techniques were introduced in Morris Minor itself by Sir Alec Issigonis. It was one of the earliest monocoques. (Source: Wikipedia, Motorbase.com)

yeah, i'm afraid you're right. since the Landmaster, Amby has been a monocoque body :)

Clicked on Byappnahailli bridge two days back.

These people may cause danger not only to their lives - but also to the vehicles behind.

rajushank84 : Tempo? Looks like a Mahindra van to me.
MARCUS_520i : I agree with prince_pervez that the mass of twisted metal is indeed an old timer Firodia(notice the grille) which was a sibling to the Matador..
@Raju is correct : that is an old Mahindra van. The vertical slats were never found on the Matadors or Bajaj Tempo vehicles. (The perdecessors of the Matadors had a more oval grille, something like that of an Indica /Accent - but turned upside down.

Description of how it happened here : http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ml#post1913439

Thats why we need Roll cages.
I think a section of some building fell on it.

This happened on NH31A Sikkim last week

The driver was killed, the two passenger were safe.

Good pictures, though.

Yep... Not hard to guess, from the rubble, what happened to this poor car.

On the BBC recently: a couple of people in UK woke up to find their cars outside their houses --- upside down. I expect it seemed like a good idea to a bunch of drunken thugs :(

This was result of underage driving

The cool dude who was driving this car was just 16 years old, thankfully he and his friends survived:

Seems to be the first casualty of the Beat here. Excluding the one burning, posted by GTO. The roof has caved in meaning somersaults.

Just came back from the funeral of one of my relatives. He was a young unmarried chap, mid 20s.

Yesterday while riding his bike near Mannuthy, Thrissur, a truck hit him and he was run over by it, was there lying in the highway for 30 or more minutes. Hundreds of 'spectators' were enjoying the scene and NO ONE took him to hospital. Finally police had to take him in an AUTO to a hospital 12 Kms away, and on the way, he gave up.

Police had no vehicle of their own at that moment, as they told all the police cars were gone for escorting a minister.

The news is there in leading Malayalam newspapers.

I offer you all my condolences. I can't really express how bad I feel about it.

My uncle passed away in a similar accident a few years ago, and his 2nd daughter never got to see her father.

Sorry to hear that clever, i usually see bystanders helping in such cases but this point is now pointless as this did not happen, my cobrothers house is just 3km from the mannuthi crossroads and that road does require some planning, the divider is in sucha a way that its unavoidable for a motorist to hit it. i dont know when will our cops learn the value of life.
