I also notice that the airbag has inflated and then punctured in the impact! (Driver side)

Airbags will inflate and then deflate. They do not stay inflated.

I know that, sire. I mentioned punctured and not deflated FYI. Forget it, guess you didn't see the pic!

Marcus brother,

Almost all vehicles' headlights remain intact unless they directly bear the full load. Try kicking an ANHC's headlight hard. Nothing will happen :)

I disagree to that phamilyman. The kind of rumbling-tumbling accident the ANHC has been through(as seen in the pictures provided), and being beaten up from everywhere outside, the headlamps remaining in the same position they were before, without any structural damage is strange indeed.

Also, there's a vast difference between the impact caused on an object by kicking it hard and that what happened to the ANHC. :)

Hmm.. guess what happens to a BMW 5 series when that happens?
Lot of underbody damage, engine oil leaked out, transmission fluid tank ruptured and leaking, the engine/under-body protection plates fall off, etc! :Frustrati
Brake pad sensors gone kaput as the vehicle was dragged with jammed wheels onto the tow truck!

Not to forget a huge bill to the owner!

Are you referring to the City pics I posted?
I am 100% sure that the airbags did not deploy! I see that car almost everyday!

They were returning in 3 cars to their native Tripunithura, Kerala, after their pilgrimage at Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. This horrific accident occured when one of the three cars, following the other two cars going ahead, collided with a truck coming in the opposite direction, when it tried to overtake a bus. One of the deceased, Nishanth, who drove the car, was working in an IT firm at Coimbatore, it is reported. May the souls of the deceased rest in peace.

Today's The Hindu has reported about the same accident.

Guess this is the first accident reported in the forum involving a Xylo. Or is it not a Xylo after all?

Air hostess dies in freak accident
By: Shiva Devnath Date: 2010-05-08 Place: Mumbai

22-yr-old who was to wed soon had head-on collision at Malad; boyfriend in hospital with severe injuries

A 22-year-old air hostess died in an accident at Link Road, Malad, yesterday and three of her colleagues sustained serious injuries.

The deceased, Bhagwati Chaitri, was driving a Honda Accord while returning from a pub.

"When she reached the traffic signal opposite Hypercity super market, an Indica coming from the opposite direction took a sudden turn.

Chaitri was driving at 120 km/hr.

Chaitri lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the Indica," said Maruti Telang, senior PI of Bangur Nagar police station.

The car also hit two autorickshaws before turning turtle. "Chaitri banged against the windscreen and suffered injuries to her skull. As she wasn't wearing a seat belt, the air bags failed to reduce the impact of the collision," Telang added.

The injured Varun Shetty (25), Yatish Shetty (26) and Jyoti Chand (24) have been admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital while the driver of the Indica was admitted to Bhagwati Hospital.

The cops also said Yatish and Chaitri were to get married soon.

The Accord can hardly be recognized. Sad to see it in such a state. Hope the others recover. I still fail to understand why someone would not wear a seatbelt.
RIP.

It is an i10.. Another i10 from ooty met the same fate few daya ago in NH 67(coimbatore-trichy road).

regrets for the picture quality.

ECR Road, Evening 6 pm. Yet another reckless driving and death. No seat belts, driver shot through the wind-screen and landed on the bonner-engine. Photo is graphic in nature.

When people will learn the benefit of seat-belt:Frustrati

And, if the report is correct, 120km/hr while nearing a traffic signal? Insane at any time!

That IS the same car which J.Ravi has posted. You seem to have got it wrong!

yes - LPT2625 must have been mistaken between xylo and i10
I guess the Wheel cap looks almost similar
Thanks to ramzsys post it has made it clear

@ DRIV3R Great observation

@ DRIV3R Great observation

The Xylo's wheels are held by 5 nuts, the vehicle in the accident has 4 nuts on its wheel. So it is definitely not a Xylo.
