Since the bus overturned, the path towards front/back/dedicated exit etc would have been blocked with people and debris and hence they might have chosen to climb out through the easiest accessible point.

Good presence of mind of that kid to circle back and help his schoolmates.

Again, no comments on both the drivers. Both of them together put a bunch of innocent young lives at risk.

That NH66 Shirur landslide episode.

Now becoming clear that one of the missing LPG tankers exploded in the river, and (with the combined effect of the landslide) caused a mini-tsunami on the other bank washing away houses and people.

Re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Can't believe I'm contributing to this thread.

I was driving back from Doddaballapura towards Yelahanka. Somewhere ahead of Angsana Resorts, I came to a halt due to a small congestion and the next minute BAAM! Took me a full second to realise that I had been rammed into by a Glanza driver. Took the car to the side, still recovering from the shock and got out to have a word with the Glanza driver. His eyes were blood red, either drunk or lack of sleep, and got onto the defence immediately stating I braked out of nowhere. He refused to pay a penny and ran away after saying that it was my fault. He knew that he was in the wrong and wanted to escape asap.

My Amaze's rear bumper along with the boot is squished and the right tail light jutting out of it's spot with the reverse lamp not working.
How do I fix the bumper? Do I go the replacement route or would a simple denting job do it. Will I have to change the entire rear camera unit? The camera works but the sensors make a loud beeping sound whenever engaged, even with no object at the back.

Any leads on a decent body shop would be appreciated!

Re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

^^^^Do you have comprehensive insurance coverage or not? If you do, you can file a claim.

I would suggest having it done by a Honda dealer's bodyshop since spares & parts would be easily available.

Re. bumper, the bodyshop might assist in reaching a decision by weighing which would be better - complete replacement or tinkering & repainting.

I once had a similar issue when on an out station trip, a stupid car had crossed the highway without looking left or right & though I braked, impact could not be prevented & I had rammed into him.
The service guys looked at the damage & suggested new bumper since it was too badly mangled (repair would have cost more than replacement). One of the headlamps & fog lamp were also replaced as they had been smashed.

I had a rear-ending at a signal few months back. Here are my thoughts:

You need to do two things yourself first which will help you tackle the FNG/ASC.
1. Analyze details of the damage : Is the bumper torn?, does the dent seem like something that can be pushed back? are any bumper clips broken? is there any crack on the taillight? Any misalignment in the boot/rear glass area? Any chipping on the rear glass? Ask yourself many Qs to get clarity on the damage.
2. Decide what you "want" to do - repair/replace. My preference is to for repair on any older car - more from an environmental perspective than anything else.

Next check with a Honda ASC and if time permits a good FNG as well (I took my car to Krithi car care) and decide based on their feedback.
Take your time with it and avoid being in a hurry.

From the images, it appears the tail lamp may have a broken clip and can be reused. The bumper can be pushed back into shape and then clipped back in. The boot needs a denting and realignment work which the denter should access.

Re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

In Anand Park, Vadgaon Sheri, Pune, a tree fell on a Maruti Van ferrying school children during morning hours. By viewing the video as you will conclude, the fully grown tree fell just seconds before the B, C and D pillars of the van crossed over. Only the A pillar was partly hit. A scooterist was also caught up and tripped over.

Really a lucky escape for the scooterist, first from the tree and then from the inquisitive dog.

Horrific Accident.

This Accident happened in Ballia a district in Uttar Pradesh. According to the reports the pickup driver warned and tried deboarding the students as the pickup was getting unstable but the students did not listened.

Someone also sent a video of the accident site but it is graphic so I am afraid of posting it.

The dog truly believed that the scooterist was responsible for the whole fiasco.

And as a dog parent, I completely understand the good boy.

Re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Finally some serious initiative from the Govt to curb over speeding. But a little disappointed that FIRs are for people going above 130.

But why 130 Kmph ? And not day 100 Kmph in a 80 Kmph road?

I would also love to see some serious actions for not maintaining a minimum speed on right lane. Or Switching lanes and cross solid lines. Speed alone isn't the problem. Rash driving can happen at 70 Kmph also.

Re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Private bus in Kerala lost control due to high speed, resulting in it turning turtle.
30 people were injured, but luckily no fatal ones.

Looking at the visuals, quite lucky that there were no people or smaller vehicles passing through that narrow stretch at that time.

I feel that these type of over speeding is a regular & daily routine there. Perhaps the driver feels less macho if he drives within the mandated speed limits or follow any safety rules. It's like having our daily dose of filter coffee. You can't start your day without a swig.

I have heard Kerala MV department is very active, agile and strict. There are cameras everywhere in Kerala. Over that, I am thrilled that the drivers still manage to show off their driving skills and keep up their discipline and practice for their Formula 1 breakthrough with total single minded devotion and focus.

In their previous lives they could be airline pilots, only that they now fly too low.

Ofcourse I am aware of the acute competition among the private bus operators there to get as many passengers onboard as possible and move in quick time while another driver on the same route is breathing down his neck, just a km or two behind. It's every day race for survival and passengers.

The same is the situation in coastal Karnataka. The drivers of express buses in South kanara district between Mangalore and Udupi also belong to the same clan as these Kerala drivers.

The first row seats in these buses are not for weak hearted or heart patients. These drivers could change the final destination of their weak hearted passengers in no time.

The car has crumpled so badly. I am told it is a brand new Baleno. Can someone confirm?

.
I beg to differ, more like fighter pilots. Airline pilots care for passenger safety.
