Sadly, I doubt that very much.

Regarding that Pune accident & old age driver, I believe it's more than age that should be the determining factor to drive. Senior citizens can be cautious & slow driver & at times irritable when they can hold up lanes & traffic. But of they are in good state of health, I would let them decide if they want to drive or be driven around.

It's rather the state of health that should be the driving factor. Blood Pressure, Sugar, certain neurological conditions can be the factors in my opinion. I know someone in his 50s just managed to hit the divider just because he had temporary health issue leading him to fall unconscious on wheel. Similar issue happened with my boss (in his 30s & the incident happened before lockdown) who had an accident in his civic due to same reason.

Age doesn't affect everyone same way. I know people who are very diminished in their early 70s, and those who are very sharp in their 80s. Last year I met an old guy who was running around in a Honda Activa. I thought he was in his early 70s, only to be told he was 84.

+1. It varies from person to person. My grandad here : https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/shift...y-grandad.html : drove well into his 90s. He was a cabbie right from his 20s.

I don't have an opinion on if there should be an age limit, but I do feel that a blanket rule might not be the way to go.

@mods:

The driving age related discussion is quite interesting and personally I would like members to continue posting their views/thoughts.

However, I feel it should have it's own thread rather than discuss it in this one.

Just my 1 cent.

Mod Note: Let's cap the driving-age related discussions here. Thanks for the support & understanding :thumbs up

I have been trying to figure out if the culprit is the auto guy or the car driver! Unfortunately the biker got sandwiched in the process!!

it is clearly car driver fault also there was biker in front of the auto as well, he might also got hit sustained injuries as well

Obviously it's the car driver! Looks like he stepped on the pedal misjudging his steering angle, probably. :Frustrati

Heard in the news that the driver died. Any guess on what could be the cause of this mayhem.

Look closely, and you will realise that the car hit the divider. I guess he slept at the wheel and overcorrected the steering wheel after hitting the divider.

He drove in a straight line right into that person and structure. How is that losing control?

I don't know why this is getting treated as "lost control" when someone is speeding in a straight-line, unless investigation proves otherwise.

Also, news says no complaint was registered because the victim was not interested in the legal process. But shouldn't the transport authority still investigate why this happened? The driver could be drunk, distracted by phone, underage driving etc.

One of the worst accidents in TN.

Maruti Omni car collided with Toyota Fortuner. Two children killed. Underage driving disaster. Parents beware!

More details in here

A 17- and 14-year-old are casualties.

Really sad state of affairs and sheer negligence from parents.
