Those rails are supposed to be very strong. They should protect persons in the cab from cargo shifting forward in case of accident or heavy braking.

I have no idea if actually properly implemented in Bolero. People familiar with that vehicle, please comment.

Re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Came across another accident video on my YT involving a 2-wheeler and a bus.

Link : (Please skip to 0.58 seconds in the interest of time).

Few wrongs the bus did :
1. Turning at a relatively higher speed on a busy intersection WHEN the signal just turned RED
2. The driven didn't stop by to help the female (obviously, he must be shit-scared thinking of the consequences and the crowd at the junction)

Lady on the 2-wheeler and her mistake :
1. Merging into the left lane from the opposite direction, trying to overtake the bus and apparently move to the left in the left lane (as it seems from the video)
2. Jumping the RED signal to merge into the intended lane for her travel

While the mistake seems to be of both the parties involved, I'm appalled at the level of news reporting we're exposed to -
https://india.postsen.com/trends/944863.html
The report mentions Bus Driver to be guilty of the death, whereas the lady on the 2-wheeler (RIP) is no-where held accountable.

A few seconds' worth of impatience can turn one's world upside down! And day by day, my belief of not owning a 2-wheeler for myself/family grows exponentially, after coming across such horrible scenes.

The wide intersection can be converted into a roundabout.
Such a wide intersections are inviting disaster as it takes at least 10 seconds for someone to cross it and those 10 seconds are like being on the line of fire, as anyone can come from any side.

The signal was in Orange and was about to turn Red and hence the speed of the Bus, hastening to cross the signal) instantly changing the course of 2 lives ( 1 life lost & his life at the system's mercy or rather the wrath) .

But I have to say the onus lied with the biker ( may her family possess strength) , who carelessly rode onto the junction from the wrong side without even noticing the presence of an oncoming heavy vehicle at her peril.

There seems to be only one rear view mirror on her right and mayhaps a left rear view mirror would have saved her.

And about that awful newspaper article, less said, the better !

Doesn’t look like the Jimny toppled first for no reason. Looks more like a side swipe with the cargo rails ripping through the sheet before the Jimny toppled over.

How many cars do you know that can take that kind of hit and not be totalled?

Re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

A 10cr. worth Rolls Royce Phantom meets with an accident due to a moron driving a worst possible vehicle to be on wrong side of an expressway that too at high speed. Luckily, the occupants in the car survived but the same wasn't the case with the idiots driving the tanker. Whats wrong with people? Authorities still sleeping after the school bus incident? Irresponsibility and stupidity at its peak.

The bus crossed at yellow signal.

The mistake of driver is limited only to not slowing down on yellow signal. Though it can't be said that he was over speeding the limit on road.

I may sound insensitive, but almost all the fault lies with the lady. She came in from wrong side and in blind spot of bus driver. There's no way driver would have noticed her. She never bothered to look into the lane she was merging into.

He escaped from being lynched by mob. Though should have stopped at nearest police station.

The mistakes are always limited. The mistake of the Lady was to take the wrong side, when everyone else was also jumping the signal. Is the punishment for this mistake to be run-over by a carelessly driven bus?

Legally, you are right, the lady is on the wrong side of the law, but could have been saved!. Driving a heavy vehicle, the driver takes a turn on a yellow, goes faster, misses the point when collision happens and doesn't realise that he had to brake, immediately.

We all have to drive with an objective of saving lives in any situation, especially in this country. If most of the car owners start counting two-wheeler mistakes and start imposing our right of way etc. it'll be a rampage tomorrow.

Getting totalled is fine. But the way this Jimny got stripped off all over the roof and side doors just by a side swipe of Bolero is something beyond acceptable. The sole reason of the fatality was because the person was thrown out on to to the road through one of these openings. Beyond doubt, the build quality to be questioned.

Totally agree with you.
One cannot and should not blame others for their lack of road sense. The lack of road discipline seems rampant. There is total disregard for the traffic signals at the location. The spot is a disaster waiting to happen. Sadly the lady was on the receiving end. May she RIP.

The bus driver had to flee for his life, else mob justice would have led to two casualties.

Journalism is now all about gathering eyeballs. Huge bold letters with fancy numbers just to pull you into their ad rigged websites to earn them a few quick bucks, huh.

Not being too sadistic here, maybe these two deserved this fate. Dont you think? Out on a suicide mission, driving wrong side of the e-way just to save a few ounces of fuel, you dont expect them to come out as a heroes.

<<snip>>.
I know this place in Ujjain. This is one of the most busy junctions of the city. People there, like many other urban (and not metro) cities of the country, have very little or no regard for traffic rules. There is a (big) Govt. hospital not 250m from this accident spot, in the straight direction.
Apart from mistakes on both the sides which ultimately cost a precious life, what baffles, rather pains me is that no one is helping the lady to the hospital for medical attention, in-spite of the hospital being less than a quarter KM away. Several vehicles, including auto rickshaws, 4-wheelers just pass through

My observation is from whatever I saw on the video that is looped in multiple times to make it 14 mins where the clip is actually <3 mins in length. But for at least 90 secs, people just look at the lady on the ground, without anyone keen to pick her up and take her to the hospital. Maybe they are just waiting for an ambulance?

This country needs an urgent education policy of the populace in traffic rules and helping those involved in an accident.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Hi All,

What are your thoughts on this video?

Seems like the frame on one side got completely torn by the Bolero Pick up truck?
