This breaks my heart like nothing else. I am distraught. What kind of society does this to children. How does it happen that a child sleeping in a basement car park to escape from the heat, is run over by a car. What is this progress and what development.
P.S. Sorry for my rant but just can't come to terms with what has happened. I just cant reconcile with myself.

...There was a lot of standing water on the 4 lane highway and the speeds were high too. The vRS went into the water without having seen it. You can see an overtuned vehicle on the divider too. Few points to remember.

When it is raining heavily or just after a heavy downpour, I always drastically reduce my speed and am very careful in wading through pools of water.
But seeing other vehicles driven at fast speeds, unmindful of stagnant water, scares me. What if one of them loses control and crashes into me?
One thing I started doing in recent months is to safely park at some place away from any big pools of water and wait for some time.
Not a vehicle accident but accident nontheless.
Another of the Goons to be wary of not only while driving but even standing on the road, hence in accident thread (incident on road).
Auto driver, biker and now this new avatar of Auto driver. Not sure how this can be even reasoned for

Auto driver supposedly hits the person with auto because he denied the ride and rather chose to wait for Rapido.
Learning from some posts and suggestions from members.
Do Not be distracted at all during driving or standing. A simple bump that could be ignored or resolved by dialog in other parts of world may lead to serious trouble here. Reinforces the 1st rule on Road/traffic, Pay Attention all around.

The speed of impact is quite obvious

Has the car jumped the median and banged into the lorry?

Further: seeing that this is a dual-carriageway, the car seems to be on the wrong side...?

According to news reports, tyre burst and it jumped the median.

As per the reports from the Times of India, there was a tyre burst, quoting the same from TOI.
Quote:
Six people, including two children, from Vijayapura travelling to Bengaluru died instantly when their car suffered a tyre burst, jumped median and collided head-on with a Gujarat-bound truck on National Highway in Koppal district's Kushtagi taluk on Sunday evening.

"Tyre burst led to accident" is just about as believable as alien invasion stories.

I dont believe it one bit. Looks like a classic case of driving wrong side to save time/fuel , and possibly DUI, since the chosen 'wrong-side' is the fast lane. The perfect 180 degrees head on, couldn't have been more perfect even with computer graphics.

In the last two accidents shared here, the cars were clearly overloaded. There were 10 people in the Scorpio N and 13 in the Innova. News reports and police authorities mention this so casually as if it is normal for these cars to carry so many passengers.
Even in the Innova case, with a dash cam footage that makes it crystal clear that the driver either dozed off or was distracted, the police authorities state that the car lost control on the curve which led to the accident. No mention of the speed it was doing or the reckless driving by the driver.
Like really? Am I the only one to notice these very obvious details?

Not sure what will be the correct speeds.
I experienced the same, on BLR-Tirupati road, in my Fortuner 4X4, at speeds of 60kmph.
As it was heavily raining and visibility was poor, I was slowing down.
There was a vehicle parked on the left side and hence I was forced to go to the right where there is pool of water. For a moment, I lost control of the vehicle and could feel it going in its own direction. Luckily the situation wasn't too bad and car would have turned few degrees and I could bring it back under control.
So, you might tick all the boxes for the aqua planing and still experience it.:Frustrati

Really?
It is very difficult for the SUV driver to see something on the ground, especially when he/she is taking a turn to get into the parking slot. It is wrong on the mother's part to keep the kid on the car park floor. If it were a straight line that the driver was coming in, the kid would have been visible from a distance for sure. Not sure if the driver is coming at an increasing ramp too.
Lets not mix completely unrelated things, just because we are taken over by feelings.
