Even a small kid can differentiate between a BMW and a Skoda. If he cannot make out the difference between a BMW and Skoda, I really doubt what actual investigation this investigating officer would do. Not just that, despite the garage owner giving the details of the car and owner, this officer in reverse yelled at the garage owner, but did not arrest the culprit. Looks like something is common in Hyderabad Megha Engineering Ferrari accident and this Mumbai BMW accident.

Would like to give an update in the BMW case.

The 23 year old has been arrested from Hyderabad Airport due to Mumbai Police’s lookout notice, where he was trying to flee to Dubai.

Unfortunate, but this is something that was waiting to happen, and sadly will probably will not be the last we hear as well.

A couple of more accidents, the road will start growing some speed humps

Not surprised, the way people were driving on the expressway was beyond belief. Lot of impatience across all lanes.

Until the expressway is completed and toll implemented we will see slow moving vehicles like Autos, Tractors and two wheelers on this road.

In India it’s so easy for a hit and run driver to go underground.

Such a sad state of affairs in our country…

This was about to happen because of this:

The driver of the BMW has been issued more than 21 e-challans for speeding, jumping signals since 2017.
And still no action was taken against him. This just emboldened him.

You know I have witnessed this many times. More so while being out on the highways than within city limits. I call this tendecy 'Reluctance to lose speed'.I still haven't been able to to decode this behavior lol:

In a city like Mumbai, everyone could be cruising at 80 kph on the Eastern or Western express highways or could be crawling in bumper to bumper traffic depending on which stretch you are on. So people generally don't seem averse to slowing down when necessary.

Slowing down when they have absolutely no choice? And even then someone will try to make a choice and "whoosh" through the traffic or bully others out of their way.

I watched one of those bullies the other day. First he was veering left and right and close distance to my rear. I slowed down, for safety. When the road was wide enough I made sure he got past. Then he started on the car in front. Then on the car in front of that.Thing is, though, he was still there several minutes later. at the next signal. For all that effort, stress and wasted fuel he had gained just a few metres!

I regularly see such people caught, for instance, in a line of traffic turning right. I sail past them. Not in a hurry, not trying to push anyone else, but simply reading the road ahead, rather than just getting past the next car.

This is something I wish everyone did. The road would be a better place to drive in.

But that would be too much to hope for.

Great to see good journalism from Mid-Day. They stuck to the story and forced the cops to do the needful before the culprit escapes from India. Rare to see the power of media actually helping common man.

Its unfortunate that such continuous coverage is needed for cops to act on a case. Wonder what people who don't have such connects with Media have to do to get justice.

An extremely unfortunate accident happened this past weekend. A well known rider met an untimely demise after he was rear ended by a truck.

Mr Gulshan was well known among all Delhi motorbike riders and collaborated with BMW Motorrad in promoting the S1000R. We are all shocked on reading the news. Mr Gulshan rode in full gear, and was in a group ride from Udaipur to Delhi.

I wonder if he surrendered at some police station. But that again is a sad commentary on todays situation. The truck would have been either set on fire and the driver beaten.

Usual practice of trucker to surrender a far away after calling a attorney help avoid adding hit and run to the case

Rest in Peace:sadface. Rewari to Delhi route is not safe especially at night. The road is in bad condition, the truck drivers are arrogant in driving and have no regard to rules/lane driving. :Frustrati

Idiot drove across three lanes and sideswiped me. Another unwilling participant in this thread. A question to Team BHP- Is it worth pursuing third party compensation in this case or should I just get the car repaired under my own? Damages are deep scratches on the bumper and a small dent on the corner of the fender.
