True. That is for manufactured ODC cargo. Tree is natural product, so no such thing required. The accompanying vehicles occupants are called outriders, they can be on any 300cc+ motorcycle, or 1500cc plus 4 wheeler with GC above 205mm.

There is another video of the same accident that shows the perspective from the middle and front of the fortuner and angled towards the road. The marriage party is on the wrong side, has hogged up most of the single lane of the two lane highway for majority of the videos duration (about 4 minutes long) and is the wrong side of the dual lane carriage way which seems to be a highway. All cars and even a goods tempo (3 wheeler) passing had the brake lights on as they crossing them. To add to all this, the fortuner had its blue-white (guess they are illegal in most countries) head lights switched on, that too high beam. Guess the oncoming car was blinded by these, never saw the people on the road and drove straight through.
Classic case of optimistic thinking gone wrong. Don't ever carry so much speed, especially in a crowded area, look out for potential trouble and always slow down instead of expecting the jaywalker to clear the path like the intelligent being that he isn't.
Sad.
Accident at Tivrem Marcel on Sunday, no casualties reported. No other information about why and how it happened.

True, seems like another case of an idiot with a phone crossing the road without paying attention to the oncoming traffic before crossing.
But the biker was also at fault - his speed seem to be double of the other two bikes on his left. Even after hitting the divider, he's at such speeds that he barrels over to hit the other biker and end under the car.
It's crazy to do such speeds during normal hours in populated & active city areas.

True.
On the other hand, its the sane speed of vehicles in the opposite lane that minimised further damage to that biker.
In one of the road safety threads, GTO mentioned that when an animal is Crossing the road, it's safest to pass it from behind since the probability of the animal moving forward is higher.
And same for the jaywalkers too. Since walking forward towards the divider is safe for them, and since they started their venture onto the road, they are confident they can make it.
But taking a step back means, staying on the road for longer, and that's unsafe territory. Compared to the relatively safe divider.
So I think we can take it as a given that animals will never step back but only step forward.

I don't. He suffered from that surety that the world will get out of his way. Did he slow down or make an effort to avoid? Did he even take any notice of the pedestrian? Did he give a damn? I see this accident nearly happening, even on pedestrian crossings, and even when other traffic has stopped.
Can't say the pedestrian is innocent, though: he is also suffering from from a stupid certainty that no-one will run into him. If a pedestrian walks straight in front of a vehicle, he can't complain if he get run over. This guy wasn't even looking.
To me the jaywalker looks like chewing gutkha or something. Surely he is at fault say 70% and the rest 30% fault is of the biker.
