Yes it can, in a high speed crash on the expressway.

Looks like a barrier crash to me too but it was at the exit of the food mall towards the expressway. It could be a crash due to lost control since you are at last section of corners on the Lonavla ghat and are going down hill and suddenly some car joins the expressway from the food mall.

From the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.
Someone ought to really note the issue of slower cars on the extreme right lane who absolutely refuse to budge and want you to overtake them from the left hand side.

Mostly tourist suvs are involved in such crashes, more so Sumos,... I wonder why? Is there a handling issue with these things?

A crashed 124 stood on the opposite direction. Was too fast to take pics but by the looks, it appeared to have taken a sommersault.

Wheels are generally stolen of cars which have had an accident or due to some technical fault are left on the highways.

Yeah its really irritating and they dont go beyond 45kmph and stick to the divider on the fast lane.

Very common on the chennai blore GQ route.

Yup it is a corsa indeed. All three cars were so badly bashed, head on I presume, hope the occupants survived tough looks dicey.

As humyum has elaborated, the wheels are generally stolen or sold off on highways if the car is left unattended for a while.

The Red Swift seems to have toppled badly. The Grey Swift appears to have taken a knock from behind (possibly no fault of his).

the zen looks to in bad condition i don't think anybody can survive a crash like this

and the skoda i think it hit the back side in the wall at high speed tearing the car up

Our office NHC was also torn up like this but the driver survived with minor injures
