Nothing impressive. He was the catastrophe. He made that manoeuvre like a bad biker: gap, go for it, regardless of whether either of the other drivers might be about to touch brake, accelerator, steering.

This is probably the worst accident and amongst the first fatalities involving a V90CC anywhere in the world. As a Volvo owner it completely shatters the myth that the 5 Star safety rating it carries is NOT a sign of Invincibility, no amount of safety rating can save the occupants if one slams right back into a rigid chassis of a Truck at triple digit speeds. I think even an under run protection would not have changed the scenario, the only and only solution would be to not SPEED ! May their souls R.I.P

If all the road users act responsibly, Indian roads would have been much safer. Along with controlling speed, we must expect some surprises and stay alert!

Looks like this is India's first Skoda Octavia vRS245 to meet with an accident!
The video has now been made private.

Accident at Virar Tirupati Nagar yesterday caught on CCTV. I don't know if the driver tried to reverse and hit the accelerator hard or if he kept the car in reverse and hit it accidentally. Or maybe his footwear got caught and the car went for a 369 degree reverse drive.
Extremely lucky that no-one seems to have gotten hit during the incident.
Experts can analyse what happened and the extent of the damage.

A little more throttle, he would have been back to where he was.

What a strange thing. Very likely that a newbie on Auto mode. Tapped to "R" and he could not figure out what is going on. Especially when you move in reverse you tend to loose the orientation.

Five killed after speeding lorry rams into car in Warangal, Telangana

Drunk driver rams his car into bike in Nizamabad, Telangana, one dead

With lock down being gradually lifted, we are seeing a spike in accidents these days. I see people driving recklessly too. Cops are still busy in covid duties, they should now focus on traffic offenders like reckless drivers, DUI, over speeding vehicles. etc

WTH was that?

Luckily no one was there on road, especially bikers. It'd have been a disaster.

It might be an AT Crysta, and the driver might be inexperienced and might not be familiar to disengage reverse, even before the vehicle started moving, it was stationary for a long time in the video, the driver was already in the car, probably he was figuring out how to use the auto transmission. As the car was continuously moving back, he might have got panicked, pressed accelerator instead of brake. (he might have thought brake might be the clutch pedal and accelerator to be brake pedal).

Gosh!. Everyday we get to see newer and newer types of accidents .

That was 100% done by someone who does not have a clue on what he/she was trying.

As balenoed said, the Crysta nearly came back to the same place after damaging a few lakhs .

I recall some nonsense about the person who made the video not having permission to publish it. What nonsense! Anyone can publish record of what is going on in a public place. I guess pressure must have been applied. Errm... Did I mention the word "jerk?"

Haven't seen the Skoda VRS video but if anyone has a copy and is being pressured not to post it, feel free to send it to me and I will happily upload it to YouTube on my channel.

Bone headed actions come with public shame. You don't get a free pass because daddy is a policeman or a tin-pot politician or whatever...

Really? People really have an inflated thinking of what rights they have in public spaces. If the owner really threatened the video uploader, it's only right to make it more widely known, 'Streisand effect' and all.

Wait, I may be going too far with my assumptions there. All I have to go on was this post:

And that spoke of youtube comments.

The wayward Skoda owner has not been implicated, so I'd better back-peddle on my implication that he may have exerted pressure. I have no such evidence.

May be one of the reasons why the video was made private. Owner of the car with camera might also be in trouble for over-speeding.
