Looks like the first car got surprised by someone at the pedestrian crossing (0.05). The rest of the cars tailgating the first one could not stop or stopped suddenly. What people do not understand is that the reaction time available gets shorter and shorter down the chain with a mathematical certainty.

Cant imagine what would have happened if I had delayed a second in braking! He doesn't even seem to be aware!

Simply you would be blamed and the media will flash the headlines like "Speeding car hit a motorcycle". When driving we should trust ourselves rather
than expecting some strangers (who lack sense) to behave.

Thanks,
TK

I don't see the airbags deployed though.

I just noticed the deflated airbags, sorry! So the car wasn't a lemon then. lol:

The ECR has hundreds of cctvs on the median. For claims and legal purposes can anyone access these video clips?

A college-going relative of mine was being harassed by other kids of his age in Nanganallur in 2019. He had to remain locked in his home, all alone. We were all livid at the threats and harassment meted out to him and so - to answer your question on accessing these CCTV video clips - we approached the police and were able to access footage of the goons waiting outside the home.

Also, many businesses and apartments nowadays have their own CCTVs and they allow police and private individuals to access any footage if it helps them.

At a T junction (on the vaikom - vechur road), the car just came and took the main road. A private bus which plies between Vaikom and Kochi ran over the car killing 4 people in a family on the spot. See video of the accident at 0:14. Happened today @ 6AM.

From the video it looks like a mistake from the car driver as he just got into the main road without even stopping and looking for any oncoming traffic. 4 lives are gone and no point in talking about mistakes.

RIP, the departed souls.

The same would have happened to the biker if `igniteddriver` had not braked for 'that' second :)

He was absolutely aware, and he was sure that there wont be any delay in braking from your end :).
And if you still want to imagine what could have happened - you would have been in so much trouble, imagining that, you would not have delayed in braking, and he knew what all you could imagine; that's the full circle. They will keep performing these suicidal maneuvers, and we have to keep staying alert and yield for them as good mannered road users. cheers.

Absolutely suicidal! How could the driver miss the lights of the bus falling on the road, given that it was at 6 am and the bus had its headlights on??!!

Yes, this is the apathy !! Everyday, I boil upon seeing umpteen number of squids on one way roads driving right at us car fellows and we need to go to a side to avoid these pests !! Sometimes even car fellas also violate the one way rule:deadhorse
All the while - we have to bear this and move on !!:Frustrati

The on-location reporter in that clip is walking across a live traffic junction like he's strolling in a park!

Yes it's a manned junction, daytime and slow-moving traffic but what exactly is he doing that can't be done standing safely on the sidewalk? The camera can pan whichever direction he wants. Such nonchalant lack of awareness, and while reporting on a fatal accident :Frustrati

A highly likely case of dozing off at the wheel while undertaking a long distance journey during unearthly hours. RIP.

Drive safe all.

Most probably a scam or something, has all the required red flags, ride with no helmet, jump in front of the bigger car, cause an accident then, get some minor bruises, add a little bit of acting and the surrounding crowds, who already are biased against bigger vehicles will mob around the car owner and you'll have to dish out money.
The guy probably realised his attempt failed, hence the quick escape without looking.

I read a report today that driver of the car was not familiar with the route (he had asked for directions at the previous junction) and was supposed to take a left turn at the junction to get to his destination, but instead went straight. The the bus driver was also reportedly new (to the route, I assume). I guess both parties may not have known about the upcoming junction.
