What saddens me the most is the opportunistic manner in which our unethical media organizations are merely utilizing the death of Subashri (killed by a falling hoarding in Chennai) to vilify the ruling political party. These media hounds are quick to name and shame the ruling party and they'll move on soon enough, whilst turning a blind eye to whatever the opposition parties do.
Here's an example of DMK's flags on iron rods that I spotted yesterday at Perumbakkam, propped by a jugaad solution to make them stand on the concrete median. If one of these were to fall on a 2 wheeler, that'll be enough to kill the rider. There'd be no need of a lorry to run them over subsequently, nor will you or I ever hear about it. They are all equally guilty, please keep in mind.

What I don't understand is why was the truck driver arrested under various sections. The folks who should be held responsible are the ones who erected the banner and who permitted it to be erected there.

And I don't understand why the printer should be arrested. Is the maker of a bullet responsible for a murder?
On the political front, the opposition seem to be up front that their guys do this stuff just as much. But, whatever party, how long will the condemnation have any effect? I'd give it a week at most before business as usual.

The printer, because he is also responsible for tying the banners. Usually when you place an order with the printer, it includes printing, mounting and installing. So if that's the case here, the printer is directly responsible for the banner falling off.

Exactly. If I had seen something like that from a distance, I would have most definitely slowed down and moved away from the median. Anticipation is a very big part of safe driving. And self preservation.

On the other hand, he would not be the one who decided the size of the banner (cutout actually). From the video it looks like it came loose after a vehicle brushed against it. This means that the width of the cutout was more than the width of the median.
Could also be that a strong gust of wind broke the string holding it.

Also, are we not gonna talk about how (dimensionally?) overloaded the truck is? The truck is definitely a hazard in itself. Also the fact that the driver didn't have the intuition to offset his vehicle to compensate for the extra width that his goods added. The front of his vehicle cleared it, but the rear didn't. He hit an illegal board this time, but he is bound to hit something (legal) sooner or later.

Anticipatory defensive driving is so rare on our roads, it's practically non-existent.
I'd love to say most people drive reactively (which is dangerous in and of itself), but the harsh (and horribly unfortunate) reality is most people drive in
mindless-moron-on-auto-pilot, gap-see-gap-fill mode.

Woah, that's an horrific crash. The car driver had literally no way to avoid the accident.
Good build quality and full set of safety features is a must.
Also it doesn't matter how careful you drive, you can also get involved in a nasty crash because of the other vehicle.

The Ecosport deserves credit for sure along with the driver wearing his seatbelt.
Fortunately the vehicles impacted the top of the truck which is relatively soft and helped in minimizing the blow.
Hitting that truck at its chassis or front would have been catastrophic.
In a nutshell
"How it happened - the trailer breaked & cut sharp right in front of me & I breaked hard to avoid, it was raining heavily, car went out of control & hit the divider & turtled..."
