The solo occupant of the car was grievously injured in this accident as per the news report.

If we are to believe this speedo, then it's quite lethal with an overloaded Ritz.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Saw on the local news, that the police had arrested a hit and run driver, apparently a doctor from Ernakulam. He had a collision with a lorry on sunday, and the driver of the lorry had expired. The police tracked the car driver and arrested him today. He was driving a BMW 525D. The irony is that the doctor could have probably saved the driver of the lorry, if he had stopped his car.

That looks like the same accident which happened near Ambur few days back. Refer posts #28231 and #28232.

Actually he hit the lorry driver who was crossing the road as per reports. And not the Lorry itself and killing its driver, which apparently does not make sense.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Not pic of an accident, however a step in right direction. We have seen multiple instances on this thread of accidents caused due to dangerously parked vehicles.

Hope similar steps are taken to curb the menace.

BMTC bus rear ended another one causing a huge pileup of traffic in Jayanagar 9th block. The least one could do was move the buses to the side or get them towed

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

I came across this video on Facebook. A family was blissfully travelling on the highway on their Apache motorcycle with burning luggage tied to the side. The highway police who saved them had recorded the video.

I too agree that the fault is with both the parties, but, majority of the fault is with truck obviously.

But, the point that truckers are sane drivers is contradictory.

For ex, a truck driver who drives mainly in the city limits (like the dump trucks used for construction activity) is no less aggressive than an auto or a city bus.

Same way, a highway based truck driver (especially loaded) will be driving cautiously, whether it is a city or a highway. Same might not be true for an unloaded truck.

I can put it this way. An unloaded truck (either a normal one or a trailer one) is unpredictable.

Recently, I had 2 shocking incidents with unloaded trailer trucks. In one, I'm shocked with the speed at which it has taken a turn, given the length of the vehicle, and in the other one, the way it has overtaken another vehicle in a narrow 2 lane twisty undivided road (thereby pushing me off the road a bit).

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

"When Alagu, on his bike, reached the MGR Street-MMDA Colony main road junction (Chennai), a motorbike coming on the wrong side brushed past Alagu’s bike.
Alagu was flung off the bike and his head came under the wheels (of a MTC bus), killing him instantly.
Alagu was also speeding, and the other biker had come on the wrong side. If one of the three had followed the law, a life would not have been lost."

These are selected passages from this news article:
http://www.newindianexpress.com/citi...s-1932286.html

RIP.

The deceased motorcyclist just turned 18, had no driving license, didn't wear helmet.
The other motorcyclist was driving in the wrong side.
Why was the MTC bus driver arrested? Why are the drivers of bigger vehicle always assumed as guilty?
It is mentioned in the article that the bus driver was speeding. But I have seen bus drivers, lorry drivers getting prosecuted even when a motorcyclist/pedestrian loses balance, falls and get crushed on wheels after the front end of the bus crossed them.
This is one of the reasons I always advocate installing dash cams in our vehicles.

Saw this Swift a couple of weeks ago. Don’t know what happened. Looks like everyone would have survived the crash if they were buckled up.
