Agreed that the car was being driven quite rash given that it appears to be a populated/residential area and the driver should have been a lot more careful.

However, a big contributor to this mishap is that senseless auto driver who had stopped bang in the middle of the left lane without having the sense to pull over to the side and stay clear off the road.

Unfortunately this the way almost all auto drivers behave across our country, be it:
- Moving slowly blocking everyone while looking out for passengers, or
-Zig-zagging after being hired, stopping/parking right at the turning making it so difficult to join the main road, or
-Stopping bang in the middle of the road abruptly like this auto driver did.
These auto drivers need to be warned and sensitised to the hardships they are causing when they commit such mistakes and penalized/challaned for repeat offences as a deterrent.

I may be wrong here but everything on the left of the Auto looks like a sidewalk with visible tiling. The guy who gets out of the auto actually goes up that raised slope. That apart, there is a streetlight adequately lighting up the lane divider as well, which IMO is the primary culprit here. There seems to be a reflector post as well, but it has been bashed in before by some other unfortunate vehicle.

The car is going way too fast for the range of headlights it has, 2 seconds pass between the lights visible at 0:12 and car making contact at 0:14. It also manages to remain airborne for about 50 meters.

Just for context, even 25 meters per second is 90 kph.

Is it me or does the Rickshaw do a runner at the end? Look how quickly he starts to hang a U-Turn - Feeling guilty maybe??:Frustrati

I happened to pass through this spot. The mentioned divider is at the end of a narrow bridge, just opposite GMM Pfaudler's main gate. I think that the car's high speed was due to that bridge.

Authorities immediately installed a reflective pole on that divider.

Here is the victim car still laying at the accident spot. I am not able to Identify the car. It looks like Tata Indica or MS Alto.

A popular corollary - our janta has developed a perverse wisdom here. This is street wisdom right here.

Cars are meant to be driven fast, in all their infinite wisdom. But they can't drive as fast when it's dark because they can't see far ahead. The solution? Switch to high beams to increase the light's throw and then floor it :Frustrati

Unmarked dividers are killers

These type of unmarked killers are very common in Bangalore. Even knowing the roads very well will not help unless one is very vigilant. Overnight many new dividers simply appear from nowhere.
As the underpass work started last week at Kundanahalli junction, a 407 with full load of milk toppled after hitting an unmarked divider. Fortunately the driver and cleaner escaped with minor injuries.

We along with few friends, couple of years back, had pooled in some money and started pasting reflectors in the ring road only to be stopped by BDA starting they would do it in a better way. 'Their way' never happened. We were late to realise that their way means nothing. However, few companies again pooled-in and installed few reflectors which again disappeared soon.

Unfortunately that seems to be the general tendency.

From the fuel filler cap chamfer on top and the backward slanting rear quarter windows on the rear door, seems like a new model Alto. It's a terrible place to start that lane divider.

Damn. Speed indeed kills.

At a lower speed, he might have been able to spot this median and stop or swerve. And like numerous other spots across the country like this, it must be unmarked, no reflectors, nothing to warn motorists of the sudden outcrop.

Bad driving + Bad Design = Disaster

I wonder why in our country authorities are allowed to get away with designing death traps on roads. Bikes often topple due to potholes in Bangalore, now we see cars regularly begin driven over a median. Road dividers are unmarked most of the times.

We cannot do much for people who drive dangerously, but even for people who drive well, these are hazards without proper warning. We should probably ask a legal guy, can a criminal or civil case be filed against someone who has been tasked to see the maintenance of these roads?

I don't know what could be the motive:deadhorse

An accident in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu. Unfortunately, the rider died. It’s far too common seeing the heavy machines like JCB, tractors, backhoes, road rollers etc. crawling slowly on highways or crossing and blocking the roads without care.

It is good to see a dashcam being used in a heavy vehicle here in India. Will help drivers who are at no fault to at least some extent.
The other day when I was travelling, I was asked by a relative who got into my car as to what all the gadgets do. When I explained to him the rear and front dashcam, he couldn't understand why a camera should be recording all the time facing the outside especially.

It appears from the video that the JCB and a school bus were trying to turn right, and instead of pausing to let them go, the bike rider kept going. He then had no place to go except into the path of the oncoming traffic.

Have seen this tendency on the part of 2-wheelers all over. They will behave as if pausing to let someone go is a huge blow to their ego.

Isn't this still, in some part, the fault of the biker? There were two possibilities here, the biker either had to go straight and he suddenly realized that the bulldozer is there blocking the road and he had no choice but to go right.. in that case he should've stopped, allowed the bulldozer to cross and then go.

The more likely scenario is that the biker had to take a u-turn and he did it (much like ALL other bikers who did the same with me) seamlessly, ignoring all objects coming into their path. A loaded bus isn't going to stop the same way as a car, and a helmet sure wasn't going to save him either. Here too he could've just stopped, allowed the bulldozer to block the other side of traffic and used it as a shield to take the u-turn.

Kamikaze bikers with a worthless cause. Overspeeding is when you do not have a second's worth of control over a predictable/imaginable disaster scenario, whatever be the speed. It all happens in a second.

What crazy riding! Ridiculous lack of anticipation. As we can see clearly where the road, the JCB and everything else is. He was either blind or drunk or just does not know how to ride :Frustrati.

I like the term Kamikaze bikers :Frustrati they do not realize the danger.

Happened to see an article in news, please read here

If you view the video in the link, its similar, trying to squeeze between non-existent gap and result is a little child losing life. The driver of the truck was beaten up by mob, unfortunately. Good part is CCTV helped nabbing culprits that included a woman (and cops published her name !!!)

How many more accidents before we learn the very basics ?

Or maybe, Death is inevitable, so why delay it ? :deadhorse
