A traffic signal (vigorous shake of the jar) will easily demonstrate this -- sudden deceleration prompts the 2/3 wheelers (sand) to squeeze in even more to the front (bottom), disturbing the homogeneous nature and lending the mix heterogeneous back to front (top to bottom) ; opening up more room , and hence inviting the next set of 2/3 wheelers (sand) into the mix at the back (top).

:D well described! What about buses, lorries, trucks and trailers? Even they are in the jar but somehow the jar does not break!

On a serious note, it is not as if the bikers after squeezing in all the available gaps zoom so far ahead of you and you lose sight of them. Bang they are in the middle of the road completely oblivious that the same four wheelers/big vehicles that they have overtaken are now closing in on them behind now.

The above video of the accident is a classic example of how that lady is clueless of the TT just beside her. That seems to be an absolutely fine road on a bright day and I can't think of any reason why this mishap should have happened other than incompetence. The TT driver on his part has ignored one of the preached best practices on this forum. Leave a margin for other people's mistakes. If he had been concentrating hard on his surroundings he would have spotted her veering slowly to her right and either slowed down or honked.

Edit: oh! Just saw the above post that she has lost her life. Feel very sad really. Only needed to concentrate better.

It all happened in couple of seconds. Moreover the two wheeler is at a blind spot for the TT driver. Nothing he can do more than what he did.

The rider didn't steer enough to take that curve and coasted towards right to come under the wheels.

Or, to put it another way, couldn't drive/ride. It's only a matter of time, or luck, for millions such. Somehow, they seem to have a lot of the latter --- and a lot of other drivers looking after them.

I'm sorry for the lady that died, and even more so for her family.

Saw this on Facebook. A Nexon was parked under a pole and the pole fell on the car. Two people were sitting in the car and both were safe post the incident. Posting a few pictures amd link below. The link has a video of the incident in it too.

At the risk of sounding insensitive, what were those people thinking with those garish grills? They deserve a pole on their head doing this to their cars stupid: Lucky they, for it was, at least, a 4* product protecting them, ironically.

If you see the video, it was very windy and raining. I think the foundation of the pole was not sufficient for the forces put on it by the wind.

Lucky escape for the occupants of the car. I think the old rule of "don't park next to a tree in a storm" should be extended to apply to tall poles as well.

All said and done it goes on prove that the Nexon’s body saved the day for those occupants. I don’t know how many cars are there that could have saved the occupants in that situation.

It's impressive how the Nexon withstood it. The pole with the signage on top looked pretty heavy.

Saw it at a U turn on Sohna Road today. Curious how it ended up like this.

Hard to tell from that angle but doesn't look like a rollover, more like a heavy impact on RHS A-pillar and quarter panel area against a protruding object.

Came up against something bigger and bader, by the looks of it. I would not like to have been in the driver's seat. Hope any others were wearing seatbelts.

There has been a lot of debate on the build quality of new line of Maruti vehicles. This accident occurred today at Siliguri between an Ertiga and an army truck.

The right side drove into the back of a truck without an under-rider!

Thank you!

The damage on this Ertiga is identical to the Liva I had posted! That's what happened to the Liva.

What is your opinion on this particular accident? For me, it is difficult to judge because we don't know the speed of the vehicles prior to the accident. Had there been any CCTV footage, we could have made some educated guesses.
