It's a wide angle pic IMO.

You are right and here's how normal both should actually be:

The Xcent is actually ok compared to the Ertiga in the pic, which looks reduced to a Ritz lengthwise.
Actually, here's one Innova from the same accident as well that looks shortened mainly due to the camera properties :

Accident on Mumbai--Pune Expressway today morning at 7:30 a.m resulting in multiple collision.

I don't think this hapened anytime before 09:45am, I crossed this place around 09:45 am. I guess this happened just minutes after I passed, don't know what might have gone wrong as is traffic was almost zero.

It was raining very heavly few KM's after this stretch.

Sad to see a GTI in this state. Seen at the VW service center. No airbags were deployed as the sensors area seem intact, Cabin area too is intact.

This looks like an animal hit, a large goat or a cow maybe. Could be a biker as well.
Airbags would deploy only when the car violently and suddenly slows down.

IINM this is that same GTI with the Stage 3 performance mods from Chennai. Being a CBU, I wonder how quickly the replacement parts would arrive.

Saw this crumpled S-Cross 1.6 at my MASS recently. My SA told me that the driver tried to overtake a truck from the left and rammed into a stationary one. The car was reportedly at ~110kmph and the driver didn't even get the chance to brake. Both passengers survived with minor bruises.

If the story is true, it does seem to be a bad crash. Glad that there were no casualties and also that the airbags did deploy in the Maruti.

Bad crash no doubt but there is no way the impact was at 110kmph. Any vehicle would have crumpled in to a ball at that speed and there would not have been any survivors. They might have been travelling at 110 but when they saw the truck, they must have braked hard. The braking couldn't prevent the accident but must have reduced the speed to not more than 60-70kmph. If you have seen pictures and reports of accidents where the driver falls asleep or somehow doesn't see a parked truck and crashes in to it, those vehicles are crumpled in to an unrecognisable shape and there are no survivors even in the back seat.

Both airbag deployed indicates seatbelt was used. This seems to clearly demonstrate that even in case of a bad crash at high speed, seat belt saves lives! agree:

What's more intriguing is that the rear seat (which is a 60:40 split) collapsed and the parcel tray flung forwards. The car was not rear ended and the boot was intact. I couldn't conclude what could have made the seat's fastening latch come off.

Before towing away the car they usually dump all the loose components lying around into the boot. This must have been done to fit something large inside.

Spotted this early yesterday morning near Thalassery town. Huge jam along the Thalassery Mahe route till around 10AM.

Major accident in Telangana: 51 killed as Telangana RTC bus falls into gorge in Kondagattu

Eyewitnesses said the bus was overcrowded, which seems to be the reason for heavy casualty.

Quote:

Fifty-one people, including several women and children, were killed, and many suffered injuries on Tuesday morning when a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) bus plunged into a gorge on the Kondagattu ghat road in Jagtial district.

Just a minor accident with one bike hitting another one. Both the riders were without helmet. Lucky that there was no other vehicle coming from the other side.

Kindly excuse the editing and music and all the other stuff. Trying my hands at Youtube editing.

HYDERABAD: In probably the worst-ever bus accident in the country, 57 people, including 39 women and four children, were killed and 31 injured, six of them critically, after an overcrowded Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) bus swerved off a ghat road and hurtled 30ft down onto a valley at Sanivarampet village in Jagtial district on Tuesday. The driver of the bus is among those dead.

The ill-fated bus belonging to the Jagtial depot was jam-packed with 87 passengers. It was returning to Jagtial from Kondagattu, the hill shrine of Sri Anjaneya Swamy. The mishap occurred when bus driver Srinivas lost control over the wheel near Sanivarampet. Srinivas, who had received a commendation certificate from TSRTC on Independence Day this year for the meritorious service, had taken the ghat road to save just 2km distance.

Srinivas reportedly failed to slow down the vehicle as he failed to see a speed-breaker. When the bus hit the bump at speed, Srinivas lost control over the wheel, resulting in the mishap. The vehicle turned turtle four times before falling onto the valley. It is believed that most of the passengers died due to suffocation as they fell over one another. Jagtial depot manager Hanumantha Rao has been suspended following the accident.

Sources in the RTC said the driver had reportedly switched off the engine and was coasting downhill in an attempt to save fuel, resulting in the failure of brakes. Ironically, Srinivas had received the Best Driver Award on August 15.

Government has started incentivising the drivers and conductors for

1. More Tickets = More incentives for both drivers and conductors
2. More fuel saving = More incentives for drivers

Objective: Save more fuel and bring more profit to the organization.

Result:
Positives:
1. Drivers will stop the bus wherever they see a hand asking to stop.
2. Switches off the ignition during the signals and long stops to save fuels

Negatives:
1. Case in point, above incident
2. Other vehicle owners suffer from jams due to congestion created by the bus in middle of the road due to point 1 of positive.

Conclusion:
What ever good, one tries to do, people misuse them to their selfishness and converts them to bad.
