Also look at the post from someone who was behind this Polo guy, let the auto driver rest in peace!
Cheers!

Its not a rare scenario. I have heard and read about many articles which cover such accidents. Not only water, but oil spills on the road too are responsible for such situations. At the time of rain, the oil comes up and floats on the water. Poor tread life of the tires, worn out brake pads, poor rotors also lead to such accidents. We must make sure that we take our car for small maintenance before the rainy season. And not to forget, we must be slow and alert during such times.

!

Really sad that a nincompoop has the power to take a precious life just because of his stupidity. May the poor soul rest in peace!

That Polo has taken some major damage! On a separate, lighter note, if this was a Maruti, people would've torn it apart that an impact with a rickshaw totaled the car! :)

Not to be contrarian but why does everyone assume that the VW was at fault just because he drove like a tool before the accident happened?

It is entirely possible that the auto decided to cross the road at that point and the VW could not avoid hitting him.

That said, there is is no doubt that one should never drive at the limit of either one's own skill or the vehicle's capabilities on a public road irrespective of the conditions. There has to be a margin. And more margin when the conditions are adverse .

Looks like the damage was caused by the stone wall, not the ricksha. In that case, the Polo has taken it really well.

Tavera was smashed badly & its alleged Travera also got hit from the rear. Not sure if seat belt could have helped to save a few occupants.

What bad luck. From the look of the tavera wreckage it looks like the Verna straight-away flew into the tavera's passenger cell, making an impact at the A-Pillar instead of Tavera's bonnet. Nothing would have saved the passengers from this. No seat belts no airbags no three letter acronyms. Not even the Tavera drivers fault as the verna crossed the divider.

The Polo has taken the hit really well with no damage to the passenger cell. The rickshaw in comparison looks like a crumpled tin can. I rest my case.

The auto driver may or may not have been at fault trying to cross a highway/ intrude onto a highway. But the Polo driver is certainly at fault if he had been driving like stated in the message. Most importantly the ones who will suffer the most are those dependent on this auto-driver for literally their daily food. I wonder if the Polo driver was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Speeding Hexa vs BMC truck - 2 dead.

Quote:

The accident happened at 4:15 AM on Sunday morning. According to the driver of the sweeping machine, the Hexa came at a high speed and hit the truck from the rear. The sweeping machine belonging to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) was at an operational speed, which is quite slow when the accident happened.
Following the impact, the Tata Hexa caught fire on the spot. There were two passengers in the Hexa and one of them got stuck inside the vehicle and was charred to death. The other passenger was shifted to KEM hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The high speed SUV hit the divider after hitting the slow-moving sweeping machine. Mumbai police have commented that the fire was caused because of the sparks from a cable passing through the divider. According to the cops, the Hexa was at a speed of 120 km/h when the collision happened.

At 4.15 am, it would be dark, and the road cleaning truck would have had just the top yellow flasher on (hopefully). Most of these trucks don't have functional rear lights let alone the lit arrow pointing to the kerb (noticed this on the Mumbai-Pune E-way tankers that water the plants on the medians).

Safety is something that is usually taken for granted. Despite having rules in place like placing road cones and stuff on the road before such road maintenance trucks in operation, nothing is being done. And rarely are BMC vehicles, BEST buses fined for anything.

This happened sometime between 4:15 and 4:30 PM on the carriage way between Pashan & Bavdhan in Pune.
God knows who was trying to do what but there are a few guesses on how this could have happened.
This spot has a small temple where a lot of vehicles stop, so may be car was trying to overtake bus and could not squeeze back in its lane before the median or simply a u-turn that went wrong!

Don't know whether this was shared by someone else earlier in this thread. Wonder how come the Nexon slided on a dry road like this.
Looks like the driver tried to drift the car clap:.

The footage of the wreckage is horrific. As others have mentioned, it appears Verna flew into the cabin at speed from the other side of the road. Tavera reportedly did nothing wrong other than being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Also, not sure if anyone observed, there had been high number of multiple fatal accident reports in the news in TN in just the last week. Not sure if the Summer holidays is one of the reason.

That's just tyres losing out to high speed and maybe a sudden flick to the steering wheel. Doesn't seem like that because the video is slowed down. Check out the uncleji running towards the end of the clip to see how slow the video has been made before upload.

Not a drifting attempt for sure, the car can be seen to be flicked back to the lane after an hasty overtake. Try playing the video at 2x speed - that seems to be real-time speed to me.

Thankfully no damage to anyone or anything in this clip, especially the Alto K10 had a lucky escape.

Now is the time for Tata to use this footage, compare it to a cricket fielder diving to save the ball from the boundary line and use "Whattae save" tag line... adding this to their IPL themed ad series :uncontrol :uncontrol

How come this incident is not mentioned here yet?

Part of an under construction bridge collapsed in Varanasi crushing many vehicles below it. At least 18 people lost their lives. Such an unfortunate incident where many suffered for no fault of theirs. Really terrifying and sad incident.
