This VW Polo has been lying unattended roadside diagonally opposite to Sadanand Hotel in Baner, Pune since the last 4-5 days. Seems to be a catastrophic incident since the driver side airbag has blood stains on it. With most of the front intact, driver side roof taking the hit and LHS wheels damaged, looks like it went under a heavy vehicle and/or the driver tried to manoeuvre sideways just before hitting. I hope the occupants are safe although the car is really in a bad shape.

Seems to have rolled over, going by the scratches on the hood and roof.

Cross posting from another thread as it is relevant for this thread also:

This incident was about a month ago @ Evening 7PM
Not major to harm any one.

A cab driver went up the Agara flyover towards Silkboard and realized he had to go under the flyover. So, the bugger decides to stop and reverse the car all the way to the flyover entrance. He had started his hazard lamps.

I was in my scooter in left most lane - just entering the flyover entrance - so I observed this and took to middle lane.

Meanwhile a biker, with his helmet on his bike's tank, talking on his mobile (mobile held to his ears by his shoulder) overtook me in leftmost lane and oblivious of the car reversing towards him.
The car honked but the biker realized it too late.

It was too late to brake and the bike rear ended the car. The biker fell down and helmet rolled over. The car tail lamps broken.

I was at risk and it happened for someone else!

I stopped by in left lane, to pick up the helmet - by then the biker and cab driver started arguing and came to assaulting each other.

After seeing them rough each other up and exchange few slaps and punches, I moved on. I left the helmet where it was - on the tank.

I took sadistic pleasure in this as they were both at fault. Earlier felt like chipping in and giving 2 slaps to both of them and go my way- but they themselves did the honour!

Please don't reverse on flyover- go on and take by roads to reach your place.
Please don't talk on mobile when riding.
Please wear helmets!

And make sure you strap secure the helmet. Even I had this terrible habit of not pulling the strap of the helmet, until I rear ended a Hatchback some 3 years ago.

During the crash impact, the helmet will generally pop off due to inertia or first impact, if not strapped.

The bad thing happens next, if there is a second impact coming up, of vehicle coming from the front or rear, and if it's tires are aiming your head. umm...That's the moment when, only 'The Gods of Probability' can save you.

Got as a forward, happened near Vazhakkulam, Thodupuzha.

I am glad that both were sturdy german cars involved in the accident. If an alto/ kwid(any other mass market A/B segment car) was in the place of either of the cars, there would have been a loss of life.

Looks like the two cars were brothers lost in a Kumbh mela and ran into each other to hug on another! :D

Jokes apart, seriously what were they trying to do!!! Both are on the centre of the road and hit almost perfect centre with very little offset. The road seems straight too. Only thing I can think of, seeing the pictures is that both were trying to overtake other vehicles in a confidence that they can pull it off.

Crazy to say the least. Sad to see beautiful cars end like this.

Looks like one of the car might have joined from the fork in the road ( where the red truck, probably a fire engine is parked) and hit head on with the other car which might have been overtaking. Nevertheless, sad to see the brothers in such an embrace.

Were both car drivers busy looking at each other that they forgot to steer away?.
Looks like a clear sign of overtaking gone wrong and am predicting it's a blind spot created by following the other overtaking vehicle. Looks horrible but German made ones have taken it well. Impact has not reached the cabin despite the head on collision.

Sometimes the big car attitude shows up in premium cars where the owners feel that their vehicle will be given prominence on the road and that leads to overconfidence in the driver when it comes to stuff like over taking, giving way etc. But here, all that seems to have nullified since this was two similar cars with maybe the same attitude 'He will move away' which resulted in such a crash bang in the middle of the road. :D I guess this is one of the rare accidents of a premium car with another premium car.

That's a lot of assumptions there just because they're big expensive Germans!! Could just be an accident.

I could see one in brown is Audi but not able to identify the black one. Guys what car is it? Jetta!!
