Probably a wide angle photo would've helped.
I shudder to think how the impact would've been. Engine has fallen down
Good that the occupants are safe.
Looks like an active variant with those kind of black mirror caps. The occupants are lucky too to have survived this.

Well am a Punto owner too.

This is an Active variant like you said, wheel caps is another giveaway.

Car has taken the impact well being the bare basic variant on sale.

The Punto seems to have taken well what looks like a high-speed offset crash on the front right. The engine also seems to have escaped major damage, though the right side frame mount and a few peripherals may need replacing.

Good to know everyone is safe. The punto's engine compartment is in a really bad state, but the body shell seems to be intact, good to know that the italian beauty has a nice sturdy built. It took me some time to actually believe it was a punto, the accident has shredded the front to pieces, you can't make out which car it is.

These bus drivers are always doing something stupid, they drive like they own the roads just because they sit way above all cars. Wrong side driving to save a few kms for a U-turn is something they do very often. You should have a look how they drive up and down the ghats of Panchgani-Mahabhleshwar, if you do not give them the way to pass they will squeese you between somewhere but will surely pass you. Sometimes you feel like getting down and giving them your peice of mind but you find numerable examples like these, how many will you fight with.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

A friend was returning from Madurai and doing good speeds(100-120) in the 4 lane(NH 7), when he had to encounter a TNSTC bus that cut across the road to enter Vadipatti.

Happened 10 days back and he is recuperating(in ICU). Still unable to speak. The other passenger in the car is dead.

The bus driver said, 'i didn't see any car at all'. People at the spot blamed the overgrown greenery in the median.

There are quite of such areas in the highways of TN, where buses used to cut across to get into a town/village at almost full speeds. They are more numerous in Salem- Coimbatore road.
While this has become a norm, it's us highway users who must be more wary of such things because more often,it's us who suffer greater losses than the heavy vehicle. There's even a video showing a compilation of accidents at a junction in between Salem and Bangalore (somewhere near Dharmapuri I think) showing typically these kind of entry, exit into highways
Hope your pal recovers soon. Those flora in the median are both a boon and curse. They cut off glaring lights at night and sometimes the vision itself during daytime. At the end of the day, whatever might be the law/ rules, we just have to anticipate morons and take precautions.

WOW !! Cant understand what is that beam that has fallen over the cars in front of the Nexa showroom - It cant be a walkway or flyover, the pipe is just to big for being a support beam and I dont think it is a frame for hoardings or signage either as those are usually "I" beams. Assuming the first 4 pictures are of the same place, I cant think of any such heavy construction being put up across a busy road.

The cars have been completely squashed like a ball of paper. I just hope the cars were only parked and without any occupants.

Is it because of the cyclone? Or was it because of normal thunderstorm ?Why there is no news about this?

Looks like an advertising hoarding pillar.

There was too heavy winds since evening. Too much disruption had happened. Power cuts in some areas since evening. Even though the place of this incidence is far from where I stay we are without power since 1pm. No rain only winds, heavy winds.

Had the hoarding + beam fallen on the road, devastation would have been larger as it is a busy stretch. Also there is KTM showroom beside the NEXA run by them.

Learner teen on joyride rams Toyota Fortuner into Sea Link toll booth, injures 4
http://www.motoroids.com/toyota-2/le...oth-injures-4/

Anybody thinks the Judge should be lenient?

1) The teen was not drunk
2) They did not run away from the scene of accident. Instead they helped the injured, even though they were hurt themselves.

The driver should be processed according to the book of the law. Leniency cannot be expected on those aspects. If he did hold a LL permit, wasn't drunk, and helped then good for him. The law cannot view any of those as a bonus to save him from whatever little punishment he may get.

Maybe he hasn't violated a rule per se, but in my view any driver.. even a newbie if he/she crashes it means they have no idea what the heck they are doing and aren't ready to drive the car yet. Driving is all about clutch control and steering control.. the boy obviously knows zilch about both. I see so many people with drivers license (some my colleagues) who take 2-3 minutes to park into a slot reversing back and forth whereas it takes me a little over 10 seconds to do the same perfectly. Driving is about control.. not pushing the accelerator to the floor and making "vroom vroom" noises from the mouth.. kids do that.

Brakes failed like really? I really don't think so, The damage the car has taken clearly shows the car was over speeding, I really hope they don't take this lightly even if the teen was not drunk, What about the people and their car's this so called teen dashed into, Helping people who got hurt after the accident shouldn't be taken as a plus point for the driver. Banning him from getting a permanent licence for a few years atleast is what i think should be done.

I guess the law and punishments are for causing the accident, not for cleaning up the mess afterwards.

Not only the teen, but even the vehicle owner must be tried to have allowed the teen access to the vehicle if the teen did not have a permanent licence.
