The Ertiga is a ZDI variant and the airbags haven’t popped. No clue about the passengers on both the cars - hopefully they have survived.

If you have a look at the second pictureyou can make out that the driver was wearing the seat belt.

Both cars seem to have side damage, wondering who T boned whom. Front of the Ertiga seems fairly intact, maybe that's why the airbags didn't deploy.

Any details available? Was the truck joining the main highway from a side road or just from a layoff. Heavy vehicles join the highway rather slowly, understandably so, but often without any indication. Without any signal, when the car is travelling at high speeds, it gets even more difficult to judge a truck inching forward.

No, But as per reports, it is said that the Innova was trying to overtake another vehicle when it collided head on with the truck. Does not make sense. As you can see the front of the Truck is intact. It is the right side which is damaged. As usual, the police said the truck driver has absconded and they are searching for him.

Will try to get more info. Eight adults in a Innova is a recipe for disaster. No lessons will be ever learnt. The Innova was a taxi hired for the trip.

Makes perfect sense when you picture the Innova overtaking on a left handed blind curve, have seen this scenario umpteen times with mixed outcomes.

Is Innova not a 7 / 8 seater? The disaster are the drivers who drive rash.

In hyderabad, the HR manager of Delloite killed an Infosys techie after his Skoda hit her 2 wheeler. She was riding along with her husband and child, waiting at Gachibowli ORR signal to turn green when the Skoda hit her from being throwing her off in air. Her husband is battling for life while the child suffered injuries. Once again, eye witnesses said the Skoda was overtaking cars at over 100 before it hit the 2 wheeler and elitist would love to nitpick this. Police said the HR manager was drunk and driving with 4 girls, all interns who were detained for questioning. He himself is absconding.

My heart goes out for the kid who lost his mother and his father is battling for life.

The car rammed the bike from behind. The woman was thrown off the bike and fell on a Honda car. She succumbed to injuries three hours later. Kumar and four other passengers fled abandoning the car at the junction. Rishab Srivastava, who sat in the front seat, suffered minor bruises and was caught by the police. He tested positive for alcohol after a breathalyser test. His blood alcohol content was 70 mg/ml.

Car rams bike killing woman at traffic junction

My heart stops beating and eyes get filled with tears when I see / hear such accidents. These should be termed as Murder and the culprit should be stoned to death, to feel the pain of the victims.
Feels so so so bad for the kid :'-(

So does mine. especially as it has become almost automatic with me that when I read "vehicle rams bike" I understand "bike drives in front of vehicle." Of course, there should never have been a family on that bike, but the guy was obeying the law

stopped due to the red signal along with other vehicles
and driving responsibly. Being a good driver and obeying the signal cost him his wife and maybe his own life. Four-year-old kid left with no father, and maybe no mother.

The pathetic youngsters drinking, driving and racing? That is what prisons are for.

Spotted this some time back on the NICE road. Based on the tyre marks, it looks like a overtaking and cutting across went wrong and did a 180 degree.

The guy and the passengers should be put behind bars and kept there till they die.

I Feel sorry for the kid and family. I hope he gets justice.

Just read in today's TOI that a biker who stopped on the highway to answer a call got hit by the car and he fell into the canal nearby and was declared as 'brought dead' by the Kilpauk Medical Hospital. The car was driven by an engineering college student aged 21 years who said he lost control of the vehicle.

I am in no way defending or condoning the reckless driving of the car's driver but we often see bikers stop and hang out in the side lanes of major roads and highways even at night without any lights. This is really dangerous as anyone can hit them. Common sense should be used to stop at a location that is completely off the highway such as an exit or a restaurant/ petrol pump etc or at least wait for a patch of road where you can get your bike away from the traffic lanes. Often I see a biker stopped on the road when there is a safe patch just a few yards ahead of them.

Awareness of safety is sorely lacking in India. Even bicycles and pedestrians hang out on fast moving highways at night and do not bother to even put on a cheap reflector that could save their lives. On the same note a large number of motorcycles and scooters do not have a working tail lamp and are blissfully unaware of the danger it poses.
