Five youngsters, including three girls, were killed and two others seriously injured, after the SUV they were travelling in rammed into a dumper truck near Sector 6 on the NH-1 in the city, today.

News reports says its a duster and seems true from the color of the car. 7 people in a 5 seater, clear case of negligence.

KOLKATA: A 28-year-old woman lay dying on AJC Bose Road as hundreds streamed past, unconcerned, on Friday morning. Afsa Khatoon, a mother of four, was run over by a speeding school bus and then left unattended for 25 minutes in one of the busiest localities of Kolkata.

CCTV footage shows that many people took cellphone photographs of her and walked away. By the time word got to her family and she was taken to hospital, she was beyond help. Had someone reached out to help her, Afsa may have survived, says her family.

Talks a lot about public apathy these days, not sure where we are heading to as a society.

First, the report says that Duster rammed into the truck.
Then, the last line says that the truck driver has cases raised against him as per various sections of the IPC. I mean, why?
Also, the police wants to nab the accused. Unless, the truck hit that Duster, the accused are dead already.

Happened to witness a similar scene of apathy yesterday.
I was riding back home in the noon, when, about 50 feet in front of me, a Kinetic Honda, for no apparent went off the road and both the rider and the vehicle fell into a small ditch. There were quite a few people on the road, but no one stopped to help the person. I parked my bike and pulled the Kinetic back onto the road and helped the elderly gentleman onto his feet. Though badly shaken up, he was quite ok. It was at this point the 'good Samaritans' came forward. They wanted to know if the 'young hooligan' riding a fancy bike had knocked him down and they were ready to teach me a 'lesson' too. The old man waved them away, thanked me and was on his way. I followed him for some distance, and when I was assured that he would be ok, I returned home.
Most people stop at an accident site either to take pictures, cause trouble or for just plain 'time pass'. Its only a few that are genuinely concerned.

The truck could have been parked in a wrong manner

Oh my God, I can't believe this. This is the craziest accident that I have seen in my living life. God bless the driver.

The Honda city seems to have sustained maximum damage. TATA is really questioning the build quality of these (superior) Cars :D

Look at the Tata Nano, impact absorbed like a pro. That's Tata build quality. Honda City back panels got teared off like someone opened a can with an opener.

Nano is a safe car clap: and cost effective in repairs too. City owner will probably spend amount worth current IDV of Nano :D for repairs.

Oh Boy! After seeing this post, it seems as if the JLR genes have found their way into the Nano! lol:
