May be brake failure. As you rightly said, very good presence of mind on the part of the car driver behind the truck.

Even I first thought brake failure. But if you watch closely, the truck sort of gained more and more speed as it falls off, certainly more than the downhill road could have contributed to. Have a feeling the driver engaged the reverse by mistake and then panicked or something.

Received this video of truck accident at Rajesh Hotel Mahabaleswar.

Although very unfortunate for the truck driver, everyone else was saved by skin of their teeth.

Is it a brake failure or some novice behind the wheels?

I think presence of mind would have saved the truck, even putting it in a higher gear like 1st would have stalled further moment of the truck, but well, at the heat of the moment, not many things strike. The 2 cars reversing in tandem without hitting each other was brilliant driving by both of them. Both of them did not freak out and came out of this without a scratch.

Very unfortunate for the truck driver. His life could have been saved if the car behind the truck did not reversed on time. This is the other side of his destiny :(

My honest suggestion to you or anyone who tries to help but gets blamed for causing the accident is, do not offer further help. Once the injured guy has help, let them on their own.
...
I had gone through a similar incident a few years ago.

Mostly agree, I treat this on a case to case basis though. I offered him help as he was profusely sorry for accusing me. In any other scenario I would have left the scene once the guy had accused me (after clearing the air).

Another good example of why you should keep suitable distance from the vehicle ahead!

A first on my Safari! See the pic.

This is Bannerghatta road and at a traffic light before the Jayadeva hospital junction which is just before the multi-grid flyover/underpass. Very wide road but filled with unscheduled bus stops and too many pedestrian crossings.

An old woman (circled in the pic) crosses the road, the taxi in front of me stopped, and so did I safely but about 5 seconds later heard a thud. A guy on a scooter rear ended. I pulled over and approached the rider to check on him. He has a broken front mud guard that’s all. When I felt he was alright and conscious of the traffic I proceeded. This guy ran to my car and started to complain that I am to blame as I stopped suddenly. I asked him if I hit the car in the front, and why he couldn’t maintain the distance to stop safely. And as expected he was blank, it didn’t occur to him that it was he who rear ended mine. As I had to keep a doctor’s appointment I continued but these 2 jokers caught up with me at a point outside of the fire station and before the dairy circle underpass flagging me to stop. I am not sure what they were thinking. If any other day I would have stopped and tried to help him understand, if still not budging show him the dash cam clips and then to the police station, but not today.

I am a biker as well, but I judge the vehicle in front and I try not to be distracted when on busy roads. I am sure he and the guy in the pillion was chit chatting and was distracted, else he wouldn't have hit few seconds after I stopped. Now my rear bumper will require tinkering and fix the rear fog lights.

This happened at Karyankod bridge, near Nileshwaram, Kasargod Kerala yesterday.

OhMyGod, that is real nightmare stuff. The driver got to safety?

Wonder why the driver pulled the wheels to the right.

sandsun7 - That looks real scary. After all, I belong to that place and that bridge is on my regular route. Hope driver is safe.

Did the driver doze off or did he loose control over the vehicle. Fortunate for him, the vehicle did not crash into the waters.

Accident on bangalore electronic city flyover - This happened around 10:00 PM yesterday, this involved one Swift, one Dzire(older version) and a Indica. All three were badly damaged. Swift and Dzire was on the side towards Silk board, Indica was on the other side towards EC. Not sure how this happened and also there could be other vehicles involved as well.

Any one has more updates on this? Could be a racing incident.

I was travelling on this E City flyover with my friend a couple of months ago towards Hosur road, around 5 30 in the morning. We almost travelled 6 to 7 km from the starting point and we saw a man walking in the middle of the road on the other side with opposite traffic, he looked like a rag picker(not sure though). I wonder how did he come on the midway. It's always good to watch out carefully while driving on this road during night. :rules:
