Spotted this volvo last monday on the Hyderabad - Bangalore highway lying on the road side. It was a straight stretch so probably the driver dozed off for a moment or someone would have come on his way.

Today I saw this wreckage of a White Santro and a Zen just opposite my sector's main road in Noida.

:Frustrati Feel sorry for these cars and for the owners. Some of those don't look any older than a couple of months.

I do sometimes wonder what if this happens when I driving. :Frustrati

Forget large objects, even small objects could be fatal at high speeds. Felipe Massa's accident of Hungaroring 2009 comes to mind.

A friend of mine shared pics of this accident with me. It happened in Panvel, Navi Mumbai. Reason according to sources say that the driver just fell asleep!
Thank god it didn't tip over! Maybe because the front pierced into the railing.

That's a fine balancing act he did there! My cousin showed me the third pic he had received on WhatsApp the other day and we were left pondering as to how he/she had managed to accomplish this feat; now we know how :D

Thanks for sharing the pics Nishant.

And I don't think they get insurance protection either, since this would qualify as an "Act of God".

I think such acts come under the header of "natural disasters" or something which used to be covered long back. I remember seeing flood, fire, earthquake etc mentioned in the policies of late 90s or so but I don't see those in the recent ones.

Does natural disasters cover come under additional rider clause for which we need to pay separately? Is it excluded normally with an option to opt in or is there no choice at all to insure against these events even if we are willing to pay additional premium?

I just checked my own car insurance; both Tata AIG & HDFC Ergo cover these situations. So perhaps I was mistaken.

That press report sounds as though they have conducted a thorough AAIB-style investigation; let us hope it will result in better regulatory compliance and operational practices from all indicted groups.

For me the biggest culprits here are the NHAI . Lets see how do this ruling affect compliance .

There were reports of inflammable materials being carried in the luggage bay , there is no mention of that .

Assuming that this bus was being operated regularly on this route ,shouldnt the KA and AP RTO's be also held equally responsible here for failing to enforce compliance to rules ? How did this bus even get a fitness certificate?

Most of the charges seem baseless except for the ones on the bus operator and driver. Am sure Volvo is a respected brand and design issues would be taken seriously. When they say most of the bus interiors were of inflammable material, does Volvo build bodies and interiors or was it the work of the bus owner/operator?

This happened last night, A cab driver ramps his Xylo into a construction hoarding.
