I know it's a bit late now but there will definitely be some duty. How much? No one knows. That's the reason I didn't buy from FC Moto or any other website. My brother was visiting Germany. However didn't want to ship to his hotel as his schedule was not fixed.
Anyway's even after duties your helmet will still be cheaper than buying in India.

Usually is 40% on your invoice. Not sure how it happens through UPS but for regular post, you get notified by your postman for the duty to be paid at your local post office for the shipment to be released to you.

I too have bought from FC Moto 2 days back and the shipment is enroute.

The typical breakup is x %age of custom duty and on that they will add 18% IGST. Last time I ordered a part from UK via Ebay. The individual reseller sent it by UK Post which landed into India Post for delivery. The postman came with the item and customs duty bill. It was Rs 5500 ( consolidated) on GBP 150 item declared item. GBP 150 +GBP 60 (shipping + INR 5500 was still cheaper than the INR 47K quoted for the part in India.

On one of the items ordered from Amazon Japan, which came via DHL, the shipping cost included customs charges. that accounted for less than 20% of the product. Typically UPS / DHL will ask yo to do KYC before even the goods are dispatched from customs warehouse.

So keeping fingers crossed on how much duty gets slapped.

Congratulations on your new purchase though I don't even know what it is; hope you love it! Yes, UPS already called and emailed me asking me to provide residence proof for KYC. Doing that right now.

I have bought stuff from FC Moto. You don’t have to do anything, the shipment will be delivered to your shipping address. I paid 43% duty.

Cheers

Re: Which Helmet? Tips on buying a good helmet

One of my friends, recently started riding and is looking for a helmet under 5K. Please suggest a good helmet in this range. I know lot of good helmets around 10k but he feels 5K itself is too much, some how I convinced him for this price range and told the importance of a good helmet. As of now he is riding Yamaha FZ and he is planning to upgrade to Dominar 400 in couple of months. He doesn't ride beyond 80kmph.

The Helmet should have
1. Dual visor,
2. Speaker Pocket for Bluetooth speaker
3. D Ring ( optional )
4. ECE 22.5 certified
5. Should be available in Matt Black ( With/without colour combination )
6. Should not be too heavy. max 1550gms
7. Padding Quality should be good.
8. Pin lock (optional)
9. Spoiler ( optional )

Also please mention full model name and if possible, suggest where can he get in Bangalore for a good price.

You need to counsel your friend properly. He is ok to spend 2L+ on a bike but not willing to spend even 5K on a helmet. Irony is bikes will come and go but the head is only once!

Moving on, check out SMK typhoon. I think it ticks all boxes and is less than 5K mark. It's a pretty decent helmet.

He has come from RTR160 and FZ150 background. Still he is riding FZ and he has never crossed 80kmph. All these days he was using Vega helmet, after counseling for 3months he understood the safety perspective and ready to spend 5K. Safe helmets even come for 3-4K rest we spend for features, design, quality. SMK typhoon seems like a very good option in that budget. Thank you so much. I am looking for some more options as I don't know what fits head perfect

I think the Axor Apexx range and the MT Hummer range is the best bet in terms of safety quotient, comfort and features. I have no idea where in Bangalore you can get them but these are both under 5k on official websites, plenty of graphics to choose from and good reliable brands with spare availability.

I paid cash, didn’t ask if there were any other options. The items I ordered worked out cheaper than local pricing even after paying duty.

Cheers

Speed doesn’t matter, anyone can crack their skull even at 50 kmph or even literally at standstill depending on the angle of the fall or if Lady Luck looks the other way. Please educate your friend.

Cheers

Speed definitely matters.
I told about his riding speed with respect to Aerodynamics, Wind blast and Wind noise. I believe any helmet with ECE 22.05 is safe. He understood the importance and ready to spend on a good helmet. All he needs is information on helmets with the above mentioned requirements.

After a bit of delay because of the Ganesh vacation I received the helmet today. Initially they shared the shipping details of Delhivery. It was showing pending pick up for 3 days. Suddenly it got updated to Blue Dart (thankfully). Expected delivery was 16th but I got it this morning. It came in a PowerSports Box with a layer of bubblewrap and the MT box inside. The helmet was inside the bag and well wrapped in bubblewrap. The spoiler came separately. I didn't opt for the Pinlock insert (Rs.2000). May buy it later.

Initial impressions:
- Fit and finish was very good.
- Didn't feel too heavy (Weight was 1450 g).
- Fit was very tight and uncomfortable. I plan to use it at home for some time and few city runs till it breaks in.

Wife tried it out too. Her head size is the same. Planning to order another piece today.
