1933 Chevrolet Master Phaeton - Calcutta - Bumpu SirCar

Here are photos of a magnificent 1933 Chevrolet being restored by Bumpu.
After checking on line I was able to confirm it's year and am posting a few photos of the car at Bumpus and some I have down loaded. The last photo is of a 1934 model with horizontal vents on the hood.

Spoke to Sparky today and he said they had it out for a run to check the mechanics which require a fair amount of work.

Hopefully they can post the work in progress as it is restored.

Hi everyone,

I just bumped into this thread and didn't know that such a thread existed. The car has lots of bits which are not original and they are going to be made to original as much as possible. Anyway month before last (april) this car was brought and then put on the road. The brakes were serviced and when the car was tested they were working like power brakes. Apart from this we took it on a broken road and surprisingly the car was going as if it is on a carpet and you would be happy to know that this car doesn't have any shock absorbers in front and at the back inspite of that the car extremely smooth.

I didn't manage to take any photographs or videos of the test drive .

there's a Phaeton rotting away in Khandala, he's asking for 7 lakhs the car is in the ground. I made fair offer of 2 lakhs but, the owner just refuses to sell.

That is the second one over there, the other one has gone to Cargaze in Lucknow and is restored. This one has been lying there in that workshop since more than 15? years? He also had an Austin 7, Stude, Nova, Chevy 1951, all rotted away.
And there are more in Vashi & Nashik.

Cheers harit

Dear Cargaze,

If you look at the car restored by DKG as attached below,

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/1942957-post42.html

You will notice quite a few differences in the body. You could use this car as a reference for your long term restoration. Check the bonnet louvers and the B pillar. You must plan to get the crank cover on the front grill.

Dharmasthala has a similar car. There is another Eagle in Bangalore

Cheers

These are pictures of Cargaze's Chevy taken at previous owners place before purchase. Panels were loosely fitted and there was no wood support. Headlight was stolen when taking delivery. So one can see that restoration is quite good, now needs some detailing. The car fell apart once loaded and transported.
Colour scheme is slightly challenging though.

Cheers harit
