New camshaft and new re-white metaled tappet blocks ready to be fitted shortly as it runs well but top end is a bit noisy.

Re: Bugattis in India!

Thanks Prem,
Greetings to all WELL wishers
Yes original body but new ash frame inside, new crankshaft from Ivan Dutton.
My 6 month visa ran out but I'm waiting to come back and carry on.
I don't know if videos are allowed. This is a small gif. She's done about a 50
km so far but will be fitted with the new David Sewell camshaft, and re white metaled tappet blocks shortly to be fitted. She has a new stainless steel tank. She is great fun to drive.

Re: Bugattis in India!

Thanks Kartik,
I really have appreciated the efforts of all you core enthusiasts Prem, Karl, KPS, Harit and faster789 and others who have continued to contribute so much interesting content over all these years. Everyday a surprise somewhere on team bhp.
Thanks again!

Re: Bugattis in India!

Bugattis from a bygone era. Like a Wodehouse book, the old world charm is quirky and thoroughly fascinating. Rather nice to stumble upon a motoring thread like this.

As Elizabeth Junek, the famous racing driver who was given this car by Ettore Bugatti, came to India and Ceylon and then sold it in India, I suppose the photo could be in India or Ceylon, does anyone recognize any clues?

This location is NOT Ceylon. Therefore has to be India

Almost certainly NOT in Ceylon, judging by topographical features and other clues recognisable by anyone familiar with Ceylon (Sri Lanka).

Is that the same Chattriwallah Bugatti which Julian UK was restoring? I always thought Julian's posts were from outside India. Is the car back in the country or here only for the show?

Yes the car has been in Delhi for over a decade now. Julian UK had been visiting Delhi for the restoration work if I'm not wrong.

Bugatti T23 (Chassis 2883) for the Maharaja of Jodhpur. This is very likely the same car once in Petit ownership (now Choudhurie Collection)
