Steady progress ensues, and the Rolls is taking final shape.

Very good work, real craftmanship. :thumbs upCareful with the rear screen though. The screen could have a metal frame and fold up.

This is going to be some restoration. I am eagerly following it and will sure have a look at it when I vist the city next.

Wow, the car is already looking good. Haritji, I agree with you; a metal frame for the rear Auster screen would suit the car much better than a fixed wooden frame unit.

Personally, I feel the rear frame can be dispensed with. The car would look better, but knowing the young owners passion for detail, the end result is bound to be very pleasing.

I wonder what progress is made on the lovely Dholpur Rollers? They are another lot of lovely cars, last heard of as being in Jaipur.

To my eye the cabinet work in the rear is a bit too angular for the period of the car and needs revisiting. The frame of the rear screen is also too heavy and needs to be slimmer, if at all.

Dear Friends and Seniors,

Please advice me with the colour combination. Although the painting stage is very far away at the moment. I am still struggling with the coachwork, and its periferies. This is a dream restoration (ressurection), but the course is no less than a nightmare.

Everything looks is place, and the final denting has started. Mechanicals would be touched once the coachwork is ready. Post the coachwork, I would dismantle all the body parts in peaces and start the paintwork, samultaneously restoring the running chassis mechanically.

However, please keep suggesting the colour combination, keeping in mind that the top wooden portion , as you can see, would be polished.

If all goes well, this car should meet the roads by 2014 end..

Please keep suggesting and add value to this project..

Shrivardhan, amazing job.

Regarding paint colours, your best bet might be to search the web and pick an authentic period colour combination you like - most cars were dual tone. There are even some R-R / Coachbuilder catalogues available on the internet.

Some of the Indian PI tourers I know where:

Udaipur: Primrose body panels with Tobac Brown wings
Chhota Udepur: Apple Green body + Darker wings (green?)
Bhavnagar: Rust Red/ Brown body + Black wings

Many "India" cars of this era also had polished aluminium bonnets!

Dear Sir,

At the outset I thank you for your kind words. I was also of the opinion giving it a dual tone. I am thinking of keeping three variables constant. Firstly, I think that the fenders and the lower bottom panels could be jet black. Secondly, the wood will have to be polished in deep walnut. Thirdly, the hood material could be black canvas. Keeping this in mind I would need to think about the colour of the remaining centre body mass, which would similarly be applicable on the wheel discs (en-route fabrication). Six White wall tyres have already been bought.

Considering the above I would have to select the colour of leather, which i have shortlisted as Green, Maroon or Red.

Hence at the moment a few combinations (keeping in mind the constants) have cropped up in my mind, which are as follows:

1) Yellow body, Green leather
2) Ivory body, Green leather
3) Medium Blue body, Maroon leather
4) Black body, Red leather

Open to advice.

I like the thought of yellow over black, but maybe even deep green fenders instead of black. Would go well with the green interiors too.

Ivory I wouldn't like - too plain jane.

A deep blue with deep red interiors would also look great, but I would think only in single colour and no wood on the bonnet.

Black body - not so hot.

Or if still in doubt, one can never go wrong with maroon over black fenders. It could match your 20hp:) Even more so if you match the polished bonnet instead of wood strips... sorry, but I still don't like the wood finish:)

Ivoty body with dark green leather would look truely royal
