This car got the 1st prize at the Apollo Tyre vintage car rally (Thrissur) in 1993. About 25 vintage cars participated in the 15 km rally.

It was purchased from General Motors Bombay in 1950 & originally imported from UK after World War 2. The engine is a 6-cylinder 2275 cc unit making 58.3 BHP at 3500 RPM (rating 17.96 HP). Max speed is 75 Mph & the fuel consumption is 25.28 Mpg.

Tyre size 5.9×15. Weight 2390 lbs. Length 4178 mm, height 1600 mm, width 1575 mm.

Cost of the car in 1950 = Rs. 10,000/-

Most interesting part about this car is that it travelled through the great escape road from Munnar to Kodaikanal (about 60 miles through mud roads) in 1975; took 4 hours and 30 minutes to reach Kodaikanal from Munnar via Mattupetty Dam.

This road is no more now and is really an adventurous jungle road.

Thats a Vauxhall Wyvern.These are pictures from my album. These used to come in two tone colours and maybe its paint is original. The car can be restored. Mumbai is near and you can source your spares from there or even take the car there for restoration.
