Hello, nice to see this thread. I think i'm late to respond to your PM. But the above mentioned colour is ofcourse very classic for most of the 'classics' with enough paint area and chrome linings.
Attached is some of my contribution to your project. The first two are the one (or similar match) you asked for. Don't know if this is what you mean!!

These were done using GIMP. The fourth picture with body colour brownish, would've been even better if the top is off-white (same as the tyre side wall). The next picture is similar to what you said above, but with two tone.

The last one is just for fun, bcz its difficult to get such gloss in reality
Pls note that some of the side beedings and handles are not omitted in the paint job. but i hope you can visualize them.

Thank you very much Raj, the off white and brown look especially nice. I may after all paint my car in this combo. But there's no hurry, at least a month to go before she's painted.

Re: My 1958 Mercedes-Benz Type 180a Ponton

Bought a few necessary parts this week from my source in Kolkata. Here's the list:

1) Rubber grommet set

2) Radiator hoses

3) Sub-frame rubber buffers

All of them are genuine MB NOS. Also getting in a fresh set of instrument gauges from E-Bay, some of them are already on their way. Also a VDO (yellow) windshield washer bag. Body work is now progressing well on the 1961 220S, and today the left side rocker panel is going to be fitted in. Also, all the engine parts made up of big end and main bearings, gaskets, seals and piston rings are on their way, should get them next week.

Here is a pic of the parts bought in Kolkata.

Regards
Prithvi

Hello Prithvi,
Thank you. Let me know if you want to see some other combinations. To get the exact shade, it will be nice ifyou can tell me the exact colour code (as you see in photoshop).
By the way the website i was talking about is nothing else but the 'mbzponton', but later i realized that you are already an active member of that.
The off-white brown combination will be nice but you've to make sure that you get the best gloss in reality. Otherwise it'll become dull, since the off-white may not pronounce the chrome stripes than some darker shades do. The vice-versa might be better in real. I mean something like this.

Received yesterday a new Bosch Blue Coil from the US, which is now made in Brazil, and similar to the one being used on Inderpalji's VW Beetle. Pic attached.

Approx USD 30.00. These are made in Brazil, and one should be careful not to order the Mexican coils.

Arre sirjee, how can they put a sticker just for the coil for my car? He he, that was from my decal set, from E-Bay. I'm a little confused, is your coil Made in Mexico (these are the ones to avoid) or Brazil. Should be Brazil I think.

Re: My 1958 Mercedes-Benz Type 180a Ponton

Check these gorgeous Ponton's out. Now tell me, which is the better colour, the deep red or the green? The deep red is exactly what I wanted earlier, and am still in 2 minds about it. The 4th colour and car is my favourite.

Prithvi

Prithvi, my friend, I told you about this colour at the begining it is amongst the three metallic colours available as options. Mine is one, the other a green and third this one- metallic strawberry, I cant remember the exact code.

But ideally in our weather and light conditions this colour may not look good. IMHO some colours that pull off very well in Temperate countries tend to look very Jarring in our weather and conditions. But again your the Boss! I still like the green :-)

Just found some more pics of the 220 Cabriolet with the gorgeous green. It's settled, this unique green it is. What a fantastic shade!

Re: My 1958 Mercedes-Benz Type 180a Ponton

Just received an update from Mr. Sircar. One side of the under carriage has been painted and tomorrow the other side will be painted after the other side is turned. Seam sealant will then be applied side by side. Then the Dinitrol cavity wax will be sprayed inside. The kingpins and front suspension is in the machine shop to make the brass bushes and also to get the suspension geometry right.

Will update with pics on the progress once I go there this Saturday

Regards
Prithvi
