Happened in our absence. The mechanic had no other choice as the car was being worked up at home and not in the garage. And later the wheel cap was surgically cleaned, polished and fit back.

Thanks for sharing the updates on Arun's PP, good to see 331 coming out of hibernation.
Detailing surely brought out the lustre back though even am surprised to know about the FC rejection due to (so called) faded paint. Anyway, all's well now.

Why was the mechanic allowed to use a hubcap of the car for storing oil and parts/nuts/bolts in the first place?!

They have been commonly known to do this of course, and that's what people like us should strictly not let them do! The hubcap will be all smudged and dirty and full of dings inside from all the nuts/bolts put inside it, all the more because tis made of aluminium!

As mentioned earlier, this happened while we were not around. The pics were sent to our WhatsApp group by the mechanic's son, who gave live updates. Luckily no damage was done as it was a quick day's job and the wheel cap was rescued that end of day.
