Yes there was one, made in t he late 70s. twas Behram who had drilled the holes in the bootlid for the first car to befitted with the 'Special' badge back then!

IIRC, this model was known to have come in a two-tone 'Pale Lilac' (ie. white! ) with a maroon top.

I'm hazy on exact details, but some cars in the 1970s and 1980s were indeed offered in two tone - the combinations were pale lilac and tarter red top (i.e. white with red top) and fawn beige with pale lilac top (i.e. orangeish brown with white top). I own a 1978 car with the latter colour scheme. It was delivered new to the emminent Poonawalla family, and fitted with a period AC back then, quite the novelty I would assume. Besides the colour I don't know what else was new - possibly whitewalls, not sure.

Hello Fiat 1100 Club Bangalore!!!

This is my first post on Team-BHP and its on the Fiat 1100 Club Bangalore thread! I have also just registered on the FCB website and am looking forward to the next meet.

I am a proud and happy owner of Vinty, a 1960 Fiat Select which I bought in 2010 from her first owner (for 50 years!!) and restored it to the best of my capabilities. Here she is! Hats off and my deepest regards to Mr. Kannan of LCK Garage for the fantastic work done on Vinty.

And you're so very right about Kannan! He is so good at what he does and more importantly he is a gem of a person. Got along very well with him from the first time I met him. I sure am lucky that he is as passionate about my car as I am!

FCB,

I will detail this out in my restoration thread, but thought I'd do a quick post here as well.

There are some parts I am looking for for Vinty. These include:

- Wheel caps. Aluminium preferred, steel will also do. The rims on my car are the original ones so will need the 'Fiat' wheel caps.

- Front and rear glass metal beading. This was there when I got the car but was "allegedly" misplaced by the mechanic who worked on the car before Kannan.

- Roof lamps on the top of the rear windows on the inside. Currently have some shady tube lights fitted by the earlier mechanic.

- 'Fiat' horn cap. I currently am making do with a 'PAL' horn cap.

- Drivers side door handle with lock assembly. Mine's a little iffy. The previous owner had therefore drilled a hole in the door and fitted a Godrej lock in the door from inside! I've left it as it is.

- White wall tyres. This is not high priority right now as I have just purchased a set of 5 new stock MRF tyres.

Any information on where I should look for these would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Praveen

Wow! What a car! Amazing! One of the best looking Fiats I have seen till date. Black is my favourite colour for Fiats. Eagerly awaiting your thread on it's restoration. Must have been a great experience. In the mean time it would be great if you can post pictures of the engine bay, dicky and few more pictures of the interiors.

Regards and Keep Revving,

Rahul Waghmare.

Wow! what a great looking car, amazing body lines, perfect color and interiors are simple yet superb, CAC444 you have done justice to the car and to add on to the shine you've got a gentlemen (Kannan) who added the glory to the car. Though you speand tons of money what matters is who is doing it and that shows in the end. I wish you good luck in getting the spares you needed and wishing you all the very best for years to come with her.

Thank you Chanu, for the kind words! Its nice to see folks appreciate cars from the past. I have, for as long as I can remember, been a HUGE vintage/classic car enthusiast.

Yes, the absolute gentleman that he is, Kannan has spent a lot of time and has invested a lot of passion into his work on Vinty which shows in the final result. I will detail out some of this in my restoration thread.

Thanks again for your words.

More soon.

Praveen

re: Fiat 1100 Club - Bangalore [FCB]

You are welcome Praveen. I should say the car is lucky to get you and you are to get Mr. Kannan. I wish lot of other enthusiasts get this kind of guidence, we are eager to see the story which I put it as "making of a beauty".

I also had a very original Fiat Delight (Appu) due to some reasons had to part with it which has gone to proper hands. I still own a 1991 Premier Padmini (Paddu). once again all the very best and congratulations on owning an Italian beauty and the most powerful car of that era and you should be a proud man achieving which not many have been successful.

Chanu,

Your words are most encouraging and kind. Thanks very much indeed! I have started to write up the entire restoration, have tons of photos of it as well. Will create a new thread tomorrow and keep the FCB thread updated of it as well. Hopefully that will be an interesting read.

Good to know that you still have Paddu! My father owned a circa mid-1980's white Premier Padmini Deluxe BE and I still have very fond memories of the car.

Cheers,
Praveen
