A date with an IPS officer. A memorable day for Arun and me! Quote:

You could go have a look at them.

Sir,
Arun and me were were going on Infantry Road and suddenly decided to have a look at IPS Mr. Nizamuddin's Fiats.
We were just standing on the footpath and staring the palatial bunglow. As the compound is more than 10,000 sqft, we could not see the cars properly. Then some dogs spotted us and started barking. We did not have the courage to go inside the compound.
Then suddenly Mr. Nizamuddin saw us and called us inside his STUNNING '30s bungalow. What we thought would be a 5 min chat, turned out to be a 4 hrs GRILLING discussion!!!!! He questioned us so much about Fiats, FCB, our personal life(what we were doing near his house at 2pm on a weekday.. he he he). He told us how good Bangalore was before the IT boom. A pensioner's paradise!!
After we gave an intro about FCB, he asked us to tell 5 reasons why a non Fiatian should own a Fiat. We told him the usual stuff but he was not satisfied at all at the reasons we gave. He then gave a neat explanation of how to convince one to own a Fiat by giving some real gyaan of his 30 years of Fiating.
The two cars were a 1970 Delight and a 1987 Padmini. Both have not been touched since a decade. The Delight was being used by the Commissioner and his wife till 1996 when he bought a M 800.
He asked us to explain him in detail about the restoration process of a Padmini. We explained as much as we could. Hopefully he will restore his car soon. All in all, he convinced us that we are still not well prepared to speak to such high personalities.
Point is: It was a learning experience for us to interact with such a senior person. He gave lots of inputs on how to live a happy and peaceful life. We spoke for an hour about Fiats, but the rest of the hours was like a counselling session for us.
FCB has for surely changed our lives directly and indirectly. Another FCBian was a Chief Secretory to Govt. of Karnataka. Like this we meet so many different personalities daily just cos of our Fiats and FCB!
Pics of the Commissioner, his cars and bungalow soon.
