A really well-maintained car indeed! Do get the original hubcaps fitted sometime too.

Incidentally, this reminds me of an identical car ('89 white padmini) I had with me for some time during 2007; it wasnt mine, actually bought at that time by a neighbour, but with my help. And he already had a M800 so he let me use this car for sometime. And I used it extensively, it served me real well too. Especially in my then regular exploits to the scrapyard where I used to carry home loads of parts all over inside the car!

The car seemed to be what was called the 'Standard' model, with no "deluxe BE/BU" badge on the right of the bootlid. It was a 1-owner car incidentally.

'handed it back to my neighbour when he decided to sell the car. 'havent seen it again since.

This is a beautiful Padmini. Looks very original. FCB welcomes Dr. Shyam the newest member. Pavan, do post more pictures of this car. Also, PM me Shyam's details so that we can updated the FCB database.

Yes!! must be the only original padmini existing as on today

Yes Mr. Pavan,
Truely original Padmini. In fact only 25K kms, original upholestry and color then really it must be the only Padmini in India. It made me jealous(joking) because i have also maintained my padmini as good as "just showroom out" except few stickers.(Now numberplate is also new) Just look at it. Good find and fortunate owner is Mr. Sham!!!!

Dear Pavan - the wheelcaps of Dr.Shyam's car are original if the car is a 1986 onwards Premier Padmini "Standard" model. It came with these wheel caps. I released the drawings as we had rust issues with wheel caps and marketing wanted stainless steel wheel caps for standard car. For economy car, we had black hub caps and for Deluxe BE and Deluxe cars we had the big plastic wheel caps. What is surprising is that in 1986, we stopped manufacturing the cars with white walled tyres. There was a specific communication letter from the Chairman Mr.Vinod Doshi to continue manufacture without white sidewall tyres only. Therefore, this car may be a very early 1987 model straggler because in February 1987, we went ahead with full glass for front doors also.

The car is in excellent condition. Can we have some more photographs, please? Also, please get the body number of this car. If it is 42xxxx series, it is 1987. I had replaced the body shell of my rally car in 1987. The number of the new body shell was "Premier * PA429764SP" (SP meaning Spare Part).

Best regards,

Behram Dhabhar

Pavan Anna: Doc's car looks just superb. Yeah, its the most original PP I have ever seen. Mr. Ram Prasad - FCB member was telling us about a similar car a week back. Guess its the same one.

But there are many low mileage PPs' around. Adheesh's grey 1990 PP is driven around 16k kms and BD Sir's BLL 4919 is driven around 20k kms i think. But both these cars are repainted. My dad's 1991 PP is driven 34k kms.

Dear all - MYX2331 is looking just great. Can we get some engine compartment photographs? Also, please remove the reverse lights from 331. They did not come on "delights".

Best regards,

Behram Dhabhar

It doesnt matter I suppose, since 331 isnt a 'Delight' anyways. It is only temporarily 'delighted' and those fittings will all go on to Arun's OHH REE GEE NAL delight when he finds one.......right, arun??

B.D Sir: Thank you for the comments on 331. DELIGHTing job is just 50% done.

Shyam: Yeah you are right. Few cars are already on my radar. Lets see what happens!
After seeing Dr. Sham Sundar's stunning Padmini, I am keen on picking up such well maintained Padminis' soon.

Yesterday Makam and me found a very very neat 1990 Deluxe Padmini in gujiri. We just could not believe that such a pristine PP was to be scrapped. But later found out that it was bought by a Mumbai dealer who wants to convert it into taxi! When we spoke to him, he was suggesting us to sell our our PPs to him so that he could use them as taxis.

Nice car. The thin white sidewall tyres must be showroom fittment. Regarding MH01B4979, it a '91 car with 12736km on the odo till date. The wheels have never been balanced and the tyres which are company fitted Modi Continental have never been removed from the rim till date and so is the stepney which is removed from the dickey only for cleaning. Regarding the car being repainted

Regards,
Adheesh Parelkar
