Factory records confirm that no gullwing came to India, but the Magsi car is on record as having been shipped to Karachi.

Chassis was 5500113, year 1955. It was fitted with Rudge wheels. The car was sadly taken out of Pakistan in the 80's.
All,

There is no 300 SL Roadster in Pakistan. One roadster was brought from Kabul in 1979 and exported out shortly.
The only Gullwing was the one referred to above. Prior to 1965 it was very simple and easy to drive from Lahore to Delhi, how I pray may those days return.

As for the 190 SL to which, as V 16 keeps reminding us, this thread is dedicated there are two.

One of the 190 SL was fitted with the oval lights from the 300 SL roadster and many were thinking that they were seeing a 300 SL roadster!!

If you want to see pictures of this altered car go to the VCCP web site and check out the pictures. First look and one would say wow! a 300 SL.

Hi Cannonball,
I checked with the establishment of Mr. Jasdanwalla. They did not have any 300 SL, nor did they service one. They did some work on Gondals car, body/tin and the engine was done by Sethna. They had 2 190 SL's, one was ex-Shashi Kapoor. And later one was sold.

Cheers harit

That's a beautiful convertible, heavy_foot. It's like grandpa and grandson in the pic
Have you got any more pics of the same??

P.S. That registration number must've sure cost the owner a bomb!

That is a really great/cool find. IMHO, the grand-pa seems to be more 'rockin' than the business class grand-son.

OT - What is the wire like thing that comes from the inside and is attached to the bumper ?

The fuel filler is awkwardly placed.

Yes it does look like a 190SL. But I have the same question as Scorcher. What is that wire like thing?

a simple paint brush copy paste fooled your eyes. I was trying to mask the number plate. Follow the link in my original post if you want to see correct reg#.

I have 1 more snap of the same car, but unfortunately none from the front. TY Heavy foot for posting it here.
Also spotted a bunch of BMW 7'ers, Range Rover Sport and Hayabusa.

Isn't this the same car which is pictured in the first post of this very thread?

Re: Pics : Classic Mercedes Benz 190 SL

Spotted this gorgeous Pagoda Mercedes 230SL the other day in Bombay. Looked like a million bucks and seemed to move just as well.
