Another treat for amby lovers- a mk1 I spotted today. APpears to be Dieselised, going by the "Di"? badge on the boot. 'couldnt get a proper pic. of the front but car seems to be used in some political campaign!

Nice thread , gives me nostalgia.

We had a mark 2 , in that we went for a Velankanni Podincherry trip, the trip lasted for 8 days and the car carried 6 adults with out any issues.

Will post the snaps later.

A Car Which i saw at Thrissur on my way from Coimbatore. The Bodywork Looked so good, the alloy wheels although cheap, somehow looks good on this Mark 2.
This model is specifically Mark 2 OHV - overhead valve is what i guess it means ! We had one of these way back in the late 70s to early 80s and then when Mark 4 came out, we modified it to a Mark 4. Stupid decision...should have kept it as is to preserve the antiquity !!!

Sirji no offence meant but in my opinion due to the dieselization of this car you are able to see it otherwise it would have ended up being scrapped. The running cost should have been its killer if it was not dieselized. I thought this way because the owner seems to keep the WOW factor attached by maintaining the originality of the car and eliminating the running cost.

Guess I agree with you samsag !
Many things which happen are beyond our immediate comprehension, or are away from what we would have viewed as 'perfect'. Alas, they represent reality !!
Thanks for bringing up a point of view I wouldn't have thought of..

A file picture of my 1955 Landmaster from the 2007 rally. The tyres were of this kind and have become white walled ever since.

Seems very original to me and has got all what it takes to be a wonderful car. I guess we have not seen 70's Ambys getting restored in this thread (I might be wrong) good one coming up. All the best to her.

Is the front grill original or an after market? I used to see a Mark 3 in Cochin with similar grill. But the car had mid 80's registration.

Thanks,
Jose.
