Shri Joginder Singh , then Governor of Rajasthan (1972-1977) seen here alighting to attend a CRPF function. It shows that even Governors used Ambassadors during those years, a sign of humility, but not without grace.

@anjan_c2007 I am posting a pic of the 1960s Ambassador that was driven by my Dad from Margherita, Assam to Chennai in 1973. It wasn't a Landmaster as I'd initially described.

Characteristics of the inside were the ignition key on cum parking lights switch, and a pull type starter lever to start the car. The steering had the metal ring for the horn, as was the norm in cars those days.

This car remained with my aunt till 1995 when they bought a Neptune blue Omni.

A newly restored 1977 Mark 3 in Kolkata. The car has been restored in 2016 and has been kept in this condition ever since.

Here is my much used 1964 Amby Mark II. The car was bought new by my dad in Cochin, from Marikar Motors and was registered KLE 3333. Later on, in Bangalore, we had to re-register it.

The car has been repainted in its original colour, named ‘Autumn Russet’. It was not a popular colour and was perhaps factory supplied only for two years. Incidentally, the Fiats of that period also gave this colour as an option.

Another Mark 2 from Feb 1965 in Autumn Russet. This picture must have been taken later one, when the car got upgraded with Mark 3 fittings
