Let me have the honour of featuring a VERY SPECIAL VW BEETLE..

The story goes back exactly a year back, i was returning back from the airport and it was raining heavily, few kms before my house i see a Millicento on the flat bed and another car with the front wheel lifted and being dragged

I take a U turn , drive near the truck and stopped it, a very angry educated gentleman was furious, but my luck, i managed to get his number...

Little later, i tried calling him, but NEGATIVE... Few days later i sent him a mail explaining who i was and why i was trying to call him.. Finally Mr. ROY started talking to me...

I had a chance to go to the Airport today again, and on conversation got to know that THIS PARTICULAR BEETLE is the same car that was featured in the famous movie "AKAYLA" and "THE FAMOUS AMITABH BACHCHAN"

And it was a REAL pleasure talking to Mr. Roy. There is little help he needs with the car, and yours truly is on the job...

The Beetle ("Rampiyari" in the movie) in Akayla seems to have the regn. MMU 2768:

Even if that wasnt the original regn. and used just for the movie, the car would've had one older than the present one. MH-04 AY seems to be after the year 2000.

OK saar...assuming it genuinely is, can you find out from the owner how the number changed, when the old one itself was a B'bay regn.?
Only probability is if the car went out to another state in between and then was brought back to MH (MH 04 = Thane if I'm not wrong), just like my Herald was originally APF then CAN in B'lore and finally reassigned as AP10A () when brought back to hyd.

Off-late i am encountering very rare and special VW's

what year is this car, the rear screen seems to be not an oval,so it must be 58-59 model, good ,i had driven a a 58 with semaphores in oberwolfach-Germany-may 2011,will share some pics soon

Very interesting if it is indeed the same car, though often in movies multiple cars would have been used. Can't remember more than one car from this movie though. Somehow I have my doubts whether its the same car, but we give him benefit of doubt. Here is the same car in a Calcutta event a few years back.

Neat - do share more pictures of this and the dukkar in your previous set of pictures.

Incidentally there is a single owner 1960 Beetle in Pune still with the family, completely original down to the VW stamped semaphores.
