Its certainly a Early Split

And FYI,

Those small tail lights continued untill 1961. Just like the one in the below pic

Actually what you have illustrated are the later 'snowflakes' (named because of the reflector design), introduced maybe around 55. Upto 55 (?) were the 'heart' taillights (named because of the auxiliary heart shaped lens in the assembly). Heart lights were fitted to later splits and Ovals upto 55, making them pretty hard to find.

Re: Classic Volkswagens in India

Hi Pavan, I would like to purchase the new set of bumpers so please let me know the price and other details for shipping them to Chandigarh.

The bumpers on my car have been fabricated by Mr.Balbir Singh at his workshop in Mohali. I was planning to send a new pair of bumpers to India from US, but if they are available then I would like to save the customs and shipping cost.

Thanks,
Angad

sir you need not ship them to India, what i did was made a big bag @rs 500 locally and packed the pair of bumpers for my 61 beetle in them along with some clothes etc and simply walked through the green channel, you can get them when you or your family member comes,

Hi Angad,

The pair of Chrome Bumpers for The Super Beetle costs Rs 15K + local Shipping charges. The person who owns them is not ready to negotiate, but is willing to exchange without any money transactions with a pair of early VW Towel rail bumpers.

They are brand new untouched piece, with the rubber inlay at the centre.

Do let me know, if you need it, will arrange the same.

Hi Sir, if the rear quarter glass beadings has the chrome inlay, i would love to get them from you ASAP.

Awaiting to hear from you.

Hi Pavan, Thanks for the information, will it be possible for you to email some pictures of the bumpers and can you request the seller to provide shipping estimates. I would like to ship the bumpers to Chandigarh (zip 160011).
