Hello all - Behram Dhabhar here - thank you once again Salil for the photographs. I think I will finally settle for the grey with black roof, C pillar and instrument panel. I do not like mirrors on the doors so I will not have them.

Best regards,

Behram Dhabhar

Isn't a mirror on the side a necessity? Its always a pain to turn your head while changing lanes or turning.

Thanked: Once

If I may share my dad's priceless possession, his Fiat car... unfortunately, I have no other pic at this moment than this (please ignore all that's on it.. it was harvesting time of our fields). We did enjoy a few occasions when we had to push it to start otherwise it is in superb condition. His first car was a Standard Herald which I am on lookout for.. to gift him.. We tried several colors on this car and finally settled on this one.

Indian legislation crawled at a snails pace back then, when even side indicators werent compulsory on a bike and the same applied to rear view mirrors. However American market cars always sported a side view mirror.

karl, in the second car, the wheelcaps, are those the same ones that roni has in the second box that he had opened. the ones with the sort of edge thingy on the circumference. the ones my dad wants.

Also, how difficult would it be to source one of these original mirrors or something close ? i Distinctly remember Ronis car having a mirror on his car but he said that they were Beetle mirrors.

Er, yes they are. These were offered on European and American market cars, except where sold at NSU/Neckar.

That was a mirror from some other LHD car, not a VW though. He found it locally, though you can buy one online if you look at the right places. Most cars of the era shared outside mirrors with other cars.

Read the station wagon ad carefully...

It says,

All the "extras" at no extra cost

Excellent makeup & getup Cyrus, my compliments to the artist & designer!! And most innovative way of saving petrol man!! And what genius to carry only half the car, you can still use the boot to store stuff & if one is feeling too hot or tired he can park it under a tree & take a nap on the back seat

Keep up the good work!
