This is incredible work, and I thoroughly enjoy reading about restoration efforts like this. Can't wait to see the final results of all this hard work.

Re: 1957 Wolseley 6/90 Restoration Journey

Now it's time to assemble the suspension components back to chassis with the new rubber components. The old shocks were put on till we decided to fit the engine into the car . We also primered and painted the under carriage of the car.

Happy New Year Indrojit. Great to see you active on TBHP and sharing pictures of the 6/90 restoration. I cannot wait to see the finish.

The position of the gear lever is very interesting, like the earlier Bentleys!

Hey KPS,

Happy New Year to you too.

Car is completed with ofcourse some pending improvements. Hoping to share more pics through the week. Yes the gear lever position is rather unique and as rightly pointed out, like the older Bentleys.

Cheers

Re: 1957 Wolseley 6/90 Restoration Journey

Body filler work starts and so does the assembly of the engine with the new parts. We used epoxy primer and then filler on the panels. We also primer and paint the inside of the car

Re: 1957 Wolseley 6/90 Restoration Journey

I was sure that I wanted to paint this car British Racing Green (BRG). So soon we managed to spray her. In the mean time I was lucky to be able to source the Starter from Australia and the radiator both with the help of a friend on the Wolseley owners group. The radiator was used and we got it recored over here.

Here is how we started and took her out of her long hibernation of about 14 years in our house.
My Journey was very similar, My dad loved my Fiat the most among all the vehicles we owned, after recovering from surgery on his backbone he preferred to travel on my Fiat the most as the ingress and egress were much more comfortable on the Fiat 1100D than my Honda City and the bench seats with spring was much more comfortable for him sitting posture wise. so we decided to restore the fiat after his death and it's still with us.

4). Engine gaskets and seals
5). Water pump with pully
6). 3 push rods as these were damaged and beyond use
7). Carb Filters
8). Water outlet elbow
9). Belt
10). Brass tabs for the block and head

We are also missing mainly the following and needed to source them apart from many smaller items

1). Starter assembly
2). Distributor assembly
3). Radiator
4). Bumpers

From my experience with importing parts for my Honda CB350 and RD350, I can assume the lengths you have gone to buy and bring these parts to India Sir

Re: 1957 Wolseley 6/90 Restoration Journey

The dashboard had completely dis integrated and we didn't have any reference left. I with the help of Wolseley owners club in New Zealand was able to import a used dashboard not in very good shape to be able to use it as a template and fabricate a new one. We also at the same time got a set of wheel caps and the Smiths Blower motor for the heater. The fuel tank was also in very bad condition with lots of rust inside it. We needed to fabricate a new one in stainless steel. The upholstery work also started parallelly.

Wow which model of the Fiat do you own ? The senior generation was fixed in certain things and had their ways.

The bushes we found were from new generation vehicle and hence we got them almost in fresh manufacturing.

DHL has been my preferred shipping company. The transit times are really quick. Clearance is fairly smooth as we also have an IEC code and they handle things seamlessly. The key thing to remember is to have all paper work in currect order for speedy clearance.
