Its almost been an year now at the workshop and the car has been receiving attention in some areas, the engine is now back in the car and runs much better, the vibrations are gone.
On the body front the excessive camber on the rear springs has been corrected as seen in the picture below. Attachment 1829949
I have received new front coil springs from the UK and if we still find the car lower from the front, might replace the existing springs as they might be a little too tired. |
With regards to the correct stance of the car as it sits on the road, My humble suggestion would be to see as many pictures on the net to decide what is the correct stance. To me it seems that the rear needs to down by a couple of inches while the front needs to come up by the same amount. Pic is attached (courtesy of

Hats of to you for staying with the project until you are satisfied. clap:

Hi Kartik,
I somehow feel that the front bonnet is not right because the front grill is sitting low.
The angled bonnet is not matching the squarish shaped car, I am open for correction
Cheers

Well, the incorrect stance of the car has been irritating to me for long and finally we got onto to correcting it.
The drooping front
The reason for the car drooping from the front was a bit silly, if I may say so, we did not have the correct radiator mount as it was missing, the one fabricated here was so low, that the starting handle hole and the hole in the radiator grill also did not match, all this unfortunately was missed, silly mistakes do happen, happy that we are now able to fix it.
Front taken apart
work on
The right stance, finally
the bonnet panel's, will now have to be re-aligned and corrected.
Would like to thank everyone who brought this to my notice.
cheers

Happy to note that this problem has been solved. I sure it make a big difference in the stance.
Look forward to seeing the car back on the road again.
Cheers

Nice work Kartikeya, thank you for the update
It is heartening to see that getting the job done right is of paramount importance. It is of little consequence of how many times the job has to be repeated in order to do so. Emphasis is on "right".
Even the most respected restoration houses in the world repeat their work several times to get it right. Kudos to you.
Do share pictures of the vehicle profile once you are satisfied with the result.

Thank you for the motivation !
here is a picture of the work in progress !

Some more progress

So far so good. A picture of the side of the entire car will give a better view of how the bonnet sits with respect to the rest of the vehicle.
Finally, we have fixed this one irritating issue and the car now has the correct stance, here is one picture, more to follow soon.

Your persistence has paid off well. It looks just right in this picture. clap:clap:
