Couple of pictures to show the progress work on the bonnet

Looking very nice indeed. I am sure you must be one satisfied owner. It seems that some body work was required judging from the work done on the mudguard.

Yes Sir slight alignment was needed, we are still facing issues with the bidding on the bonnet, so this would take a bit time to sort out.

I would be happiest, when the car would be out of the workshop. :)

I am sure with your skills, Sir, you will sort it out in no time at all. On my car the beading is part of the bonnet hinge. I can understand your relief at getting the car out of the shop

So we have been stuck on getting the bonnet to fit properly but to no avail, finally we thought about checking the bonnet with the other rover and found out that the previous restorer had goofed up on the basic design of the bonnet, left with no other option have to fabricate an entirely new bonnet and side panels, it is very frustrating at this stage but there is no other way but the correct way, thankfully we have a original specimen to look at.

some more progress , next job is to fix the handles and to fabricate the bonnet.

I haven't been regular on the forum in a while but deep respect to you sir on a fabulous restoration! The way in which you've collected all the parts to get the car in original-stock condition and the sheer volume of parts that were required & obtained for the restoration - so much so that you had to buy another car - nothing short of amazing!

The car really looks super, bonnet misalignment notwithstanding. I'm sure with your capability you'll have this problem fixed soon and the car will be purrfect:)

I have been following this restoration with much interest. I find it hard to understand that the previous owner messed up the bonnet to such an extent that an entirely new one has to be fabricated. However since you have another "unmolested" car to compare it with, this must be the case. Still hard to digest.

Your singular devotion to perfection has to be applauded. There are a handful of restoration project on Team BHP that are altogether on another level. This is one of them. Bravo. clap:

The shut lines are really quite commendable. The gaps are very even. Hats off to the craftsman doing the job. The bonnet is a bit tricky to get right.

Man, look- just LOOK- at that sheet-metal! Except for a couple of corrosive spots, its shiny as stainless steel sheets! THAT's what replacement panel sheet-metal HAS TO look like!! When at all will other local tinkers ever learn to use the same, instead of the oxidation/moisture-exposed bits of tin they so callously patch on and nonchalantly dismiss any objections about! :Frustrati:deadhorse

An update after a long gap, we have now come back to the painting stage, fabricated new bonnet and bonnet sides




and also repaired the sun roof as it wasn't working the way it should, now will have to repaint the roof too,



wasn't very happy with the running board alignment and the wings , so some tinkering there too.





Apart from this I also imported rubbers for the windshield, back glass and the quarter glasses.
