Re: Restoration: 1967 Chevy Impala V8 Rustbucket

As always Pavan, it's yet another treat unfolding for all of us to drool over.

You have an extremely talented craftsman there who is able to envisage your thoughts and imagination and bring it to reality!

The patience and hard work is already bringing out splendid results, man I can watch this being done all day...

Cheers!

Re: Restoration: 1967 Chevy Impala V8 Rustbucket

Pavan Sir,
Can you please let me know the garage where you are working on the restoration? Hope you are comfortable if I pop in over the weekend for an odd hour or 2?

Impala cars have always caught my imagination and would love to see this monster been given shape.

You've got the right man for the job, Pavan! Or, was it YOUR selection by any chance?
The Same Tinker has been with me for a long time, infact he was the one who completed the last bit of tinkering and fitment job on my Beetle 13 years ago.

As always the work done on the car is top notch.

It came intact, Thank god for that .

Further to the project, its the usual story of un-earthing fresh Rotten panels, the story is like never ending, not losing hope, we know we are very near to what we want to achieve.

Amazing Restoration, the best I have seen till date; Just one question

As far I can see is this car a Body on frame design?? If yes why did you not split the body and frame; will be easier to work on the body; and you can pay attention to the frame which will also have rusted by now

Deepak,

The condition of the car was such that had an attempt been made to separate the body from the chassis, it would have fallen apart with no template left, resulting in a nightmarish situation. The approach taken by the restorer according to me is the correct one. Rebuild panels piece by piece on the car, then once the entire body is complete, lift it off the chassis for inspection and rectification of any new corrosion spots.

Indeed we intended to do a chassis off resto, but since the 100% of the underbody was in shambles, we dared not to go that way. The chassis will come off only to replace the body to chassis bushes, and to anti-rust it.

More work followed, and the progress was Brisk enough nearing completion. Another week we will be through with the welding and bodywork

Re: Restoration: 1967 Chevy Impala V8 Rustbucket

Pavan Sir, I've been a silent admirer of most of your restoration projects. When I saw the first picture, I was hoping this would be a cake walk for you as the car looked good. The later pictures which revealed the amount of rust is truly shocking. The hard work that you and your tinker are doing is simply amazing. Keep up the good work sir, hoping to see this american muscle in its awesome form.

Rajchetan, the rains & all mean that this is a lean period for work. Pavan has been out on a couple of deliveries, as we have seen. Guess he will resume work on this & other cars soon as he is back.

Thank you guys for keenly following this project. Well, to say more, This project is very close to my heart and i wanted to do The Best when it comes to getting it as FIT as an IMPALA. Last one month the car has seen 2 weeks of Hibernation as we were on hunt for the rear chassis panel which had dis-integrated and being a Crucial part of the car, i had to wait till the part arrives. Also added the Ramzaan month and a couple of cars that was supposed to be delivered.

10 days ago, the rear Chassis column arrived and work is on full swing Welding and other tinkering work is now very close to completion, say 99% DONE.

Will upload pics in a couple of days
