Hello All,
This is my first post on T-BHP. I have been following the forum since a couple of years.
I have a pre-loved 2015 Honda Jazz S CVT Petrol that I bought at the end of 2017. The reading on its ODO then was approximately 29K kms. I am posting about a recent suspension change that I got done from an FNG in Hyderabad.
From the time I owned it, I followed the regular servicing schedule and always got it done at the Honda authorised service centre in Hyderabad (Sundaram Honda, Ranigunj).
Now, in 2024 Nov the car has completed 60K kms on ODO and it is mostly driven by me (95% of time) and occasionally by my father or uncle (~5% of time). Of late, I started noticing that the ride quality had worsened (very stiff and able to feel everything on the road) and also especially on pot holes, speed breakers and also rumble strips. I remembered that the service advisor mentioned about tyres being worn out and suggested replacing them in the last scheduled service. Since the car is almost always driven in the city I postponed the tyre replacement for a couple of months.
But with this ride quality issues, I started thinking about other ways to address it while simultaneously researching on tyre options in TBHP. One thought that occurred while reading different posts was to consider getting the suspension checked as well. I could always drive down to Sundaram Honda and get it done but this time I wanted to see if I can get a good FNG to do it. (Since the car is 9 yrs old, and no warranty exists I was ok with it).
This led me down another research path looking for FNGs details in the forum and also asking in my circle. My typical understanding was that cars that have high mileage in their ODO & high maintenance needs (aka German made) had a solid use case for a good FNG. Since mine is a Japanese and it barely requires any attention apart from the scheduled maintenance I was not sure If I will find any FNG to do it.
At this time, one of my friend (who owns a 9 yr old Polo TSI) suggested visiting German Motors (Nagole, Hyderabad) and shared the number of its owner Mr Srinivas. At the same time, I saw a post in TBHP where a fellow bhpian shared about a detailed explanation of the DQ200 DSG gear box issues (he had collected this info. after discussing it with Mr Srinivas who explained it in detail). I was very impressed and wanted to give it a try and so I contacted him. They typically handle only German made cars (as the name suggests) but he was open to consider since my friend had introduced us. He is a very welcoming and nice person. First impression itself told me that he is very highly knowledgable person w.r.t all things cars.
Nov 29 -> Spoke over phone to Mr Srinivas and explained my needs
Dec 7 -> Visited German motors workshop and Mr Srinivas drove the car to understand and diagnose the issues.
Initially, Mr Srinivas felt that the car was good overall except that it felt like sitting in a rocking boat every time it went over uneven roads, pot holes etc.
He thought adding a new set of rubber bushes would take care of the issue partially. That would also give it some additional height and I could consider a bigger tyre upgrade then. But he said that he will need to drive it once more and also open up the suspension and check before taking a final call on his recommendation.
Dec 16 -> Driver picks up my vehicle to take it to the workshop
Dec 17 -> After checking the car in detail and opening up the suspension, they recommended replacing it.
Front and back shock absorbers
Coil springs (front)
Link rods
They suggested Gabriel and I okayed it. Not much research done by me here, I just went with their recommendation.
Gabriel Shocks
Old ones - Stock which I have kept just in case. The coil springs had become very hard.
Additionally, got a few more works done:-
1. Headlight replaced with LED as I was finding night driving even in certain city roads difficult with the stock lamps and wanted better visibility.
2. Dicky shocks replaced (old ones are gone)
3. Remote battery replaced (remote had stopped working around this time)
4. General check up
Dec 18 -> Work is done and car is ready
I arrived at their workshop around 5 pm. We went for a test drive and I could immediately feel the change/improvement in ride quality. Mr Srinivas (who has an affinity for German cars) mentioned that he is only 80-85% satisfied with the change done and its impact. But at this point, that is something he was happy with. I understood his statement since his benchmark is German made cars.
I settled the bill and came back home with a smile on my face. The height of the car has gone up by a few cms. I was not able to measure it exactly but can notice it. Will observe over the next few days and weeks to understand this change and the improvement better. I will take a call on the tyres in 1 - 2 months. Would love to hear any suggestions on this. Keep hearing about Continental UC6.
P.S After the work was done when we went for a test drive, Mr Srinivas noticed that the steering was off by a few degrees and asked his team to correct/adjust it. I was impressed by his attention to detail and quality check/oversight. A thourough professional.
So far a very good experience and my first major spend/work on Jazz. Excited to see how this plays out.

5/5 for Mr Srinivas and his team at German motors for the overall experience.
