We have almost decided to go for the i10 1.2K magna CNG over the Wagon R CNG. Hope its a sensible choice for commutes in the NCR region.
Has anyone been using a CNG'd i10?

My i10 Asta Kappa2 is consistently giving horrible FE figures of 7.5 kmpl (100% AC, 100% city drive). I have around 2500 km on odo and 2nd service is due next month. Shall I ask the service guys to reset the ECU? |
I must agree with you..mine i10 Automatic Sportz (April 2011) gives 8.5 to a litre with 100% AC. With the increasing fuel prices, hurting me more.
Does anyone feel disappointed by the AC unit of kappa2 ?
I have test driven 3 different vehicles, all had weak AC compared to the newly serviced AC of my 7 yr old wagonR

I think the AC is quite ok. The only issue is the level 1 blower speed should have been a bit slow. As 1 and 2 blower speed has a very marginal difference.

My ride is not even an auto, it's a manual :Frustrati

Nope, rarely have to go beyond blower speed 1 or 2. It becomes quite chilly when you put it in cabin recycle mode.
My i10 1.2 kappa has run 38K, I drive 40 odd kilometers daily to office and back. I have tracked my mileage over 5K kms or so using the full tank process, my averages are lowest being 10.8km/l and best being 15.6km/l. City driving saps more fuel and highway driving lesser. But I have learnt to tune my city driving to get better fuel economies, by sensible driving, maintaining the right air pressure and using good fuel. I have checked out many fuels(HP, BP, IOL, Shell etc in the so called best bunks in the city) but Shell petrol has been giving the best results.
guys, what is the oil change interval for the new Kappa engine ?
My i10 kappa2 has been nearing its 10k kms mark. City usage mileage is around 11 - 12 kmpl whereas highway is always around 13-15 kmpl. (13 was on a 2 lane kumbakonam - tanjore road with a/c on 3 all the time). The ARAI figures of around 19 kmpl seem like a distant dream.
I recently bought a used i10. I'm not much used to drive petrol manual cars in the recent past. Could you please provide me suggestions as to what the ideal rpm for the Kappa engine (not Kappa2)?
For economy, upshifts are best done at 2000 rpm blue_pulsar.
For spirited driving, its 2500 rpm. I shift at 2000 rpm always!!
Hope this helps.
My brother's Hyundai i10 ERA.
The car has couple of issues like low idling causing engine stalling, engine heating up (must be due to running in), Speedo acting in strange manner like needle moving up to 150 when driving around 40 and sometimes the needle stays at 0 speed. Need to take the car to Hyundai A.S.S.
Overall it is nice compact car.
My Nov'08 i10 Kappa AT has now been driven for 41K kms. As per the manual, it is recommended to change the AT Fluid at 40K if used in severe conditions.
I don't have any issues with the car and it gives a mileage of 10-11 on an average.
Question is, should I replace the AT Fluid or just leave it as is for some more time?
Thanks
What is the suggested change interval for normal conditions ?
AT-Fluid is good for a long duration (both in terms of kms and years). For our A-Star_AT, the change interval suggested is 1.65lakh kms or 11years (I am sure about the kms, but dont remember if it is 11 or 13 years). Given this, I would think 40K kms is too early for this change. And also why fix something that ain't broken ?

AT fluid should be changed at every 30k miles or 50k kilometers. There is a Dexron III AT fluid available nowadays which claims to last 100k miles.
I recently bought a used 2009 i10 Sportz with 20K on the odo, as mentioned in my earlier posts on this thread. Here are some points in observed:
1) i10 is an overhyped car. Doesn't deserve the hype it gets.
2) Only positive points of the car are its engine and gearbox.
3) Beige interiors!! :Frustrati I'm sure I'm gonna hit someone or something one day. Way too much reflection on the glass. What were Hyundai thinking?
Regarding the quality, it doesn't have soft touch plastics. Just has the right texture. And marginally better than others in its segment. Doesn't deserve the hype.
Beige is no longer 'premium' as lot of you think. Even the Nano supposedly has beige interiors.
4) The ride quality is simply the worst and bumpiest I have ever seen. I used to believe that Swift had the worst ride quality. Its the i10 now! At least, the Swift handles beautifully whereas the i10 handles like crap. The chassis is totally incompetent.
5) Fuel Economy what I get is between 9.5 and 10 in Bangalore city, peak hour traffic, 50% A/C. Too low for a 1.2. Before you claim that I don't know how to drive, let me quote some facts. I used to drive a Swift diesel 3 years back on the same roads and I used to manage at least 14kmpl.
6) The car is way overpriced.
Having owned the Swift and the i10, I would definitely recommend the Swift over the i10 anyday. Swift has its basics correct. You can buy it with your heart. i10 on the other hand, is just a glorified small hatchback. 'Beigeified', overpriced and forced to believe it's 'premium' which it is not (cannot justify either buying it with your heart or with your head). I feel that the new WagonR is a much more VFM package anyday.

You're not alone my friend. There are thousands of people who were fooled by the ARAI mileage of 20.xx (over the IRDE's 19.xx). And Mr. Shah Rukh Khan fooled them into believing so. Just search over the internet and you can find many people who are unhappy with i10 Kappa's mileage.
