^^ I am experiencing the same with my Beat also, Ist and IInd gear without pressing gas pedal!
Hi guys, my first post here and feels great to be a part of T-BHP.
Thanks to this fabolous review of GTO, I finalized Vento as my next car. Went to VW Gurgaon and was attended by the Sales Person. He told the various features etc (which I already knew, thanks to T-BHP) and I told him I'll book it, pending a Test Drive. He said he can't provide a TD since it's past 6 now but will provide it next week. This was on a friday.
I forgot about it in the weekend and my dad called him up on Tuesday. He apologized that he could not bring the car on that day but will bring the car on Wednesday at 11 AM. On Wednesday he called up at 10 am to confirm and was there at the spot on time. Took a Test Drive and was impressed. Enough has already been said about Vento so won't add to it.
I booked it on 8th October (was waiting for sharaadhs to end) and he told me he can deliver it earliest by December. I'm thinking of taking Delivery in December and going for Registration in January ? What do you guys suggest ? Should I do that ?
Also have 1 question : the Sales Person told me that Vento has speed sensitive Auto Lock but I could not hear or see the doors locking. Have also read here that Vento does not come with one. Can anyone confirm it please.
Once again many many thanks for making me a part of T-BHP :)
Vento does not have speed sensitive auto lock. The central lock has to be manually done. Read somewhere that the company can fix it by a upgrade(?firmware, or something of that nature) .Also it has one reverse light and it is annoying as people come and say that "already one bulb is gone"
Even in UK I used to get annoyed at cars having only one reversing lamp --- especially when having to reverse in some unlit place. I'm afraid it is quite common.

:OT but ...
Do not depress the clutch and brake: just brake. Even though you may not feel it much in higher gears,
engine braking is still helping you to slow down and to keep the car under control. To get more engine braking, change to a lower gear.
The reason that you are able to move off without acceleration is two-fold: one is the much greater torque from a diesel at low revs, and I suspect that the ECU also has something to do with it. It is not impossible to stall my diesel Swift, but it is hard.

Sorry for appearing stupid but which of the reverse lights (left or right?) is missing? And what earthly reason do companies offer for this ridiculous "feature"?
Just checked the reviews and pics, the Vento Trendline seems to come with 2 Reverse Lights while the Vento Highline gets a Rear Fog Lamp on the driver side instead of the Reversing Light.
I think it's the same case with Polo and Skoda Fabia too. Please correct if wrong.
Does Vento TDi also require idling for 45 secs at start and stop like Linea T-Jet?
Or are petrol and disel turbos completely different breeds and so no idling is required for diesel?

All turbo's, irrespective of petrol or diesel require idling. Here is a link for more information on the same

Had a TD with Ventro dealer at place cross. Its very impressive. wanted to book the Petrol Highline in 2nd Jan as its my son's Bday. But delivery date says 3 or 4 month and it sounds like delivery could be on my Bday month (Apr) which is a very long wait. Any chances of improvement in delivery dates from VW in future?
Also dealer says cost might go up in Jan and i need get a fresh quote for bank loan. Is it true?
Other than this, checked Scorpio which is just next door to VW and they promise a delivery within weeks time from date of booking. Also promised a 50k discount. Now I have two minds. Wait for VW or go for Scorpio LX.
The only drawback is I cannot make extra fittings to Scorpio as MM says its voids anti rusting and other standard warranties.
I cannot compare apples and oranges but neat to make my mind to chose apple or orange.
I have also read in TBHP link about VW polo and its issues and customer dissatisfaction about service. How is Ventro? Can any owner give me some help to make up my mind.

What issues with VW Polo? One customer had a problem and even that is not entirely clear.
Regarding the dealer, the one in Bangalore might as well be a Honda or any other dealer. There isn't much differentiation in terms of VW dealers vis-a-vis the competition right now.

You are correct on the waiting period on "Vento". But I don't think that there is any price increase expected as of now. The price may increase depending upon the budget..... All the dealer told was, you need to pay whatever is the price at the time of delivery, which is a standard disclaimer by all the dealers
Had my first somewhat longish drive. Had to drop a family member to Bangalore airport and back, the round trip being about 80kms. The drive was in the middle of the night therefore no traffic apart from slowing for speed breakers. The car returned an impressive 22.5kms/litre. I did not drive beyond 100kmph speed.

WOW!!!!!!!!clap:clap:
TDI engine at its best. I am glad to know that I didn't make a wrong decision by booking the Vento Diesel
That's an awesome mileage msd63. You must have really enjoyed the night drive. But was this the mileage shown on the MID or you calculated it by tankfull to tankfull method? Also pl share with us how is the illumination of stock lights. Pardon me for my ignorance, but have you already started your ownership thread. There aren't many as of now & I am desperately looking for one.
